Lily grinned as Zane spoke of a bet. "Ah. I see you've found my other weakness. It is a deal, Mr. Zane. I hope you know it will be a draw.He won't see it coming. As for your plan, I think it will be ok. Of course, you'll need to be talking to Rosie, I don't want her to mess anything up." she said, sounding very sneaky and sly. She laughed softly, her grin coming back again as he spoke of a time. "Hum, I say as soon as possible. Of course, we will need to be in the Great Hall before him, to get everything ready and all. Morning is the best, don't you think. Not really awake, not caring about anything. What do you think?" she asked, her eyes dancing in delight.

"I know you too well," He said as Lily mentioned her weakness. He just smiled at the fact that Lily thought James wouldn't blame them, he'd have to blame someone and it was going to be his best friends who he would lay the blame on first. "Yes I'll talk to Rosie," he said before listening carefully to what she had to say. "That's strange, I was just thinking the exact same thing. Now who's the one reading minds? Yeah that reminds me I need to talk to you about Zoey. Anyway, I think that's a great idea. How about the morning after tomorrow, because I don't think we'll be able to nip down to Hogsmeaded tonight." He looked into her eyes again, she seemed so happy and carefree, it was definitely a change for the better.
Lily laughed, a pretty normal action for her. It was almost as common as her winking. "That could be a bad thing or a good thing." she teased, watching him with care. She sighed, an odd sound for the small built girl. She shook her head. "Well, then the plan should work out well!" she said, hearing Zane speak of Zoey. Her features hardened as the name was spoken. Zoey. Zoey. Oh how she hated that girl. So preppy and girlie. It made her sick. Oh and the fact that she considered Lily bad for not being like her and wanting to be in her 'circle of friends' added to the long list of why she hated her. "What about her?" she asked her voice harder than normal. She tried to calm down, but why did Zane have to talk about Zoey? She told him she didn't like her, not one bit. Maybe it was important. "Day after tomorrow? That sounds terrific! What time?" she asked, her face softening and livening up again. She didn't want to be rude to Zane. That would kill her chances with him. She smiled and winked.

"Hopefully it's a good thing," he said with a smile, watching her as her laugh echoed across the common room. It went unnoticed by all, except for her two stalkers. He raised his eyebrows slightly as Lily sighed, as if to say, what's wrong? He nodded, watching Lily's face as he mentioned Zoey. He paused waiting for Lily to respond. Of course Zane knew full well that Lily didn't like Zoey, they were total opposites. However, it would be for the good of the New Order if she joined them. Zane had nothing against Zoey. She was always really nice to him and he had never heard her lose her temper. "Look I know you two don't exactly see eye to eye," he said slowly, wishing for Lily to understand, "but she's a legilimens. Someone like her would be invaluable against some members of the DE." Ok I admit, she won't prevent Kia's attacks, she's way too powerful, but maybe it could provide us with new information that would give us the advantage. "Lily, you know I'll always put you, Ted and Rosie first, but I really need to think about the New Order. We're barely holding up against the DE as it is. There's no other choice, we have to get Zoey on our side." He paused again, waiting for Lily's reaction and hoping that she would understand why Zoey had to join. "Erm..." Zane said, his signiture smile returning, "about half eight? Ted's usually up by then."
"Zane! You don't really know her. You know her nice side. Hell yes thats the only side you'd know. She likes you. Duh, who doesn't?" she said, whispering the last part. She smiled before getting on with her lecture. "You haven't seen her hateful, bratty side. Y'know her little circle thing? I know you do. You've been accepted into it. Me? Nope. She can't stand the fact that I can take care of myself. It pisses her off. She won't allow into her group because of that reason. So, do you see why I hate her?" Taking a deep breath, Lily laughed at the noy in front of her. She smiled, thinking back to his birthday party. Good times, well.. Maybe. Her eyes slowly drifted to the fire. "Sooooo, that soundss like a good time. We gunna meet here, or in the Great Hall?" she asked, all trace of her hate of Zoey gone.

"Yeah I know, don't judge a book by its cover and all that jazz." Zane said quietly whilst listening to Lily's lecture. He nodded, keeping his thoughts to himself as Lily mentioned Zoey's circle. "Yes, I see why you hate her, but also do you understand why she has to join." He paused before continuing, "Look Lils, of course I'd choose you over Zoey, but you'll just have to put your differences aside, for the good of the New Order. I know it will be difficult but, what other choice do we have?" He followed her gaze to the flames, listening carefully to the crackling flames as well as Lily's words, "Um, I don't know, I didn't really think about that..." A sheepish grin crossed his face.
Lily sighed. "Fine. I'm only doing this because your making me! I'm not promising that I won't kick her ass if she tries anything though." she warned, a impish look crossing her lips. She winked at her friend before laughing the look off her face. "You'd better choose me over her, Zane, or I'd be forced to beat up up too." she teased, her eyes wandering back to the carckling flames. She faintly heard Zane say he hadn't thought to the meeting part of the paln. "Well, I think we should meet here at around.. I dunno..." she said thoughtfully.

"Good good, I'm glad you agree, be it reluctantly." Zane smiled and simply shrugged his shoulders as Lily mentioned kicking Zoey's ass, "just not during meetings, ok?" he added. "Well I wouldn't want that" he smiled again. Mind you she had a point. Lily vs Zoey, I wouldn't want to be around if that kicked off, mind you I'd have to intervene otherwise it could go on forever. Oh and after what Nikita said at my party, I'm sure she'd join in if Victoire was standing anywhere near. Why does life have to be so complicated? Mind you, I guess I brought this on myself, taking Charlotte to the Summer Ball and all. "Um eight-ish?"
Lily grinned up at her friend. "Your welcome." she said, resting her hand on the arm of the chair she was sitting in. Her eyes still on Zane, she gave him a inniocent look. "Well, only if she doesn't stay in her place. But, y'know she'll be pissed if I have a higher ranking than her. Can you just see the look on her face?" she said, sighing in contentment. Laughing at herself, Lily heard the time Zane thought best for them to meet. "Sounds like a plan! I wonder if James will be angry...." her voice trailed off, a smile spreading over her features.

"It's ok," he said with a small smile. He paused to look at Lily as she described in detail the look on Zoey's face, "true that would be priceless." He shifted in the armchair slightly before placing his hand ontop of Lily's. "You know, you have really tiny hands," he laughed as he said this, comparing both his and Lily's hands. He smiled again not letting go of Lily's hand before saying, "he might be, but hey what can you do?" He looked into Lily's eyes again, watching them dance as a smile spread across her face.
Smiling as Zane spoke, Lily let her eyes drift back to the fire. "It would be priceless. You got that right." she said, her eyes not drifting from the fire. She heard Zane's words, but hardly took the meaning of them. Her thoguhts were racing about Zoey. How Zane had kissed the brat. It had pissed her off, to say the very least, to think about her best friend, and the boy she thoguht she loved, kissing on some other girl. She was letting her mind run away with her when she felt something covering her hand, followed by Zane telling her how small they were. She looked up, a Lily smile on her lips. Eyes dancing, she tried not to let her mind and emotions get the best of her. She mind was screaming at her. Oh my GOD! Hes touching me! Not in a friendly, we're best friends way either!' She kept her eyes on his, watching him with wonder. All the time she had spent hoping and praying this would work out had really paid off. "Well, I'm pretty small, so I'm not surprized I have small hands." she teased, her smile turning a bit flirty. 'Nows no the time to play hard to get Lily Luna Potter.' she yelled inside her head. She winked at Zane, not moving her hand the slightest bit. His hands are warm... She thoguht back to the feeling that had shot up her arm when he hand put his hand over hers and smiled wider.

Zane just smiled as he saw Lily notice that he was holding her hand. It had just felt right, an impulse if you will. The sudden feeling to hold her hand, something in his recent memories had prompted him to do so, but of course Zane had had quite a few too many firewhiskies by this point. No he wasn't an alcoholic, just influenced by how much James was drinking. He smiled again as Lily replied to his earlier statement, "hmm yeah I guess." Oh come on Zane you can do better than that. Think of something to say. Anything! "The weather's nice today," he said quietly. Why the hell did I just say that? One it's totally off topic. Two, it's a blatant lie seeing as though I've just come in from a thunderstorm. And three, it's a conversation killer not a conversation starter. Honestly, I hold her hand for two seconds and my brain goes haywire... He simply smiled his signiture Zane smile, whilst trying to think of something better to say.
Smiling, Lily looked at Zane, her green eyes lighting up at the sensation his touch gave her. I wonder if he knows how cute he looks when he is confused. Her thoughts were wavering now, not really on any present tense thing. Mostly, they were glued to Zane, but sometimes - aganist her will - the little buggers would drift to James and see his angry face if he had seen the contact. A sudden, out of the blue, conversation starter brought her out of her fairy tale thoguhts. "The weather?" she gasped in between laughs. There was no way she could control herself. Her breath came in quick intakes as she tried, unsuccesfuly, to control the laughter escaping her lips. She looked up at Zane, a Lily smile painted over her features. It wasn't a normal Lily smile though, it had an edge to it, as if to ask if he knew what she wanted. Her heart, which seemed on the point of breaking after all she had seen Zane doing with other girls, seemed to heal the second his hand covered hers. After what seemed like ages, Lily finally had the power to control her laughing. "I can see that this isn't easy for you." she grinned. Oddly enough, even thought she had doubled over in her fit of laughter, her hand hadn't moved an inch under Zane's. "This is nice." she whispered, using her free hand to push a hair back behind her ear. "Well, I think it is nice." she teased, watching the boy with intent eyes. She was already swimming in the depth of his chocolate brown eyes when she relized that she had moved. Shocked, she moved herself back. What the fudge! Lily you idiot! You can't do that! Of course, her instincts had kicked in and she had moved, even if it was every so slightly, closer to Zane. She had straightened up thought, wondering if he had caught her mistake. She felt her cheeks flame up a bit.

Zane joined in with Lily's laughing before saying, "ok I guess I deserved that," as the laughter began to cease. He watched her with a smile as she struggled to control her own fit of hysterics. The weather?!?! That really must be an all time low. He shrugged his shoulders with a sheepish smile on his face when she said that it musn't be easy for him. He looked into her green eyes for a few seconds, just enjoying the relative quiet before Lily spoke once more. "Yeah it is," another coherent sentence there Zaney, "I do as well..." he said quietly with another small smile. Yes it had felt strange to begin with, but now it just felt natural, as if it was meant to be like this. As Lily inched backwards, Zane couldn't help but smile especially as she blushed slightly. "Erm thanks for my birthday present," he paused, "and your help with that little situation." He thought back to his birthday, the first time Lily had actually taken his hand to draw his attention to the fight. That had been nice, just like it was now.
It wasn't like Lily held hands with boys often, but having her mother's good looks, and attitude, it wasn't unusual that she'd have a boy, mostly a 4th or 5th year, wrapped around her little finger. She smiled at Zane as he laughed with her. At least he can laugh at his mistakes. Thats always a plus. She grinned wider as he said he deserved he fit of laughter. People were starting to look at the two now. She heard one boy mutter it was an odd match. She looked at him with a smile. "Whatever you think." she said happily, looking back at Zane. Though she knew she shouldn't, she caught the angry look of one of the stalker girls. She tried to suppress a grin, but the look on her face was just to priceless. "Your stalkers seem... Pissed." she said, sounding wary. She had seen the look he had worn when she had leaned forward those three centimeters. He looked... Pleased? Humored? Nervous? Lily had no idea. "I'm glad you think it is nice." she said, her signature smile spreading over her face. She waited, watching her eyes. They are so lovely. So brown. she thought. Never had she felt this way about a boy holding her hand. This has to be meant to be! "Your ever so welcome, Zane." she said, smiling at him. "I don't think I could have ended that problem alone." It was a wonder anyone could have ended that fight. She had been surprised that Snape would show up. It had taken her a while to get used to the fact that Zane could not have asked her to come. She smiled at him, her body feeling warm, despite the glowing fire beside her.
