It had been three days since Ted had made the biggest mistake of his life so far, and Rosie and him still weren't talking. Their friends thought they had to choose sides, but it seemed that the both of them, he and Rosie, didn't want that at all. They were going through a rough patch right now, a very rough patch, and everyone seemed to be nervous that the two of them would start a brawl in the middle of the Great Hall. But they were quite good at holding their emotions down, the small glances he would take of her would be sad ones, but she would never look up at him, which he assumed wasn't a good thing at all.
At the moment, Ted followed a normal routine. Wake up, go eat, go to classes, go eat, go to more classes, eat and then just come up into the room he shared with James and Zane, and sulked like a little girl before going to sleep. He thought about Rosie the most, how much time he had screwed up with getting wasted beyond belief. He still hadn't talked to Lily about the whole thing, hell, he had done nearly any talking in the passed 72 hours, only will completely necessary. He was still trying to come up with a plan however, a plan that would make Rosie forgive him for all the crap he's pulled. So far, he was coming up empty handed.
Ted sighed and turn over on his bed, looking out the window. He hadn't realized it had become dark in such a short period of time. He was almost dead to the world now, and what he really need, as girly as it sounded, was someone to talk to, someone to give him some input on what to do.

Zane climbed the stairs towards the dormatory, ignoring the shouts from the Common Room below, for another game of Wizard's Chess. He wasn't particularly bad as Wizard's Chess, or good for that matter. No matter how hard he tried, Fielding, a fifth year, always beat him in seven moves. Not that it would matter if it was only once, but every time. A different way each time as well, it wasn't as if Zane could just learn it because it kept changing. One person who was absent from the Common Room was Teddy. Yes Zane had seen him around, but he just seemed to be an empty shell, no real spark in his eyes, like there used to be. He just managed to duck in time when a cushion came flying at him from the Common Room below. He smiled, and quickly threw it back so it landed on top of the Wizard's Chess board.
He opened the door to the dormatory quietly, trying not to make any unnecessary noise that might wake the sleeping inhabitants. He sat down on his bed, wondering whether it was a clear enough night for a quidditch practice. It probably was, there didn't seem to be any ominous clouds and the stars were out shining brightly. I'm too tired He just lay down on top of his bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking about the last three days. He could hear the tick of his watch that he had left on his bedside table that morning, having been in too much of a rush to remember it. He reached across to see what the actual time was when he caught sight of Teddy just staring at the window. Zane just smiled, he had been sure that Teddy had been asleep a few minutes ago.
"Hey Teddy," he said quietly, checking that the rest of the occupants hadn't woken up. Apparantly not. "Penny for your thoughts?"
Ted had heard someone come in, but didn't acknowledge them at all. Instead, he just sat there, starring out the window, wondering what Rosie was up to at the moment. This night could f been a nice night to snuggle up but the fire in the Common Room, he could hear the people downstairs blabber on and on, but never paid close attention to what they were saying exactly. He let out a soft sigh, until he heard something shift behind him and a small voice. Ted turned around to see his best friend, Zane Lestrange, sitting on his bed, smiling softly. That's something Ted wished he could do, but the smile never seemed to rest there very long. And it was never a real smile, that last time that was plaster on his face was when he was with Lily. He mentally shivered at the thought, looking over at Lily's boyfriend. That's definetly something he did not want to share with his best friend.
Ted shifted so he was comfortable, but didn't say anything for a moment. He sighed finally then looked up at Zane. "Have you seen her today?" he asked. He was sure Zane would understand what Ted meant, he asked everyone who talked to Rosie now a days how she was doing, since he himself could go and ask her.

Zane just waited silently, enjoying the peace that the dormatory provided away from the hustle and bustle of the Common Room. He stared out of the window, looking up at the stars that were shining brightly above the forest. The occasional hoot of an owl or screech of a bat seemed to belong to the only animals that were alert at this time of night. He looked back to Teddy who had just shifted slightly. Finally he heard Teddy's voice, he paused before answering, "yes I've seen her today. She's fine, following the same routine as usual." That was another problem about Teddy and Rosie falling out, both James and himself had to act as messengers between the two, but somehow it always got better in the end. This time however, Zane wasn't so sure. It had been a big row over something or another, that they refused to tell Zane about, the worst so far. He paused, not knowing whether to mention the fact that Rosie had mentioned Teddy to Zane, he decided against it, not wanting to make the situation any worse than it already was.

James was fuming. He had been forced to skip dinner and now he couldn't do any homework because it was too late. Why did he miss these chances you might ask? The answer is simple. Detention with Duros for what felt like the tenth time this week. He hadn't even done anything wrong this time. He scowled as he turned the corner and muttered the password and crawled into the common room. He looked round for Ted or Zane, but couldn't see them. He decided to get an early night and crossed the common room to the door leading to the stairs and climbed to the dorm.
When he got there he saw Zane on his bed and Teddy by the window. "Bloody Duros has it in for me! That's the tenth detention in two weeks." he said angrily. When he saw Teddy properly he frowned, his anger ebbed away. He knew as much as Zane did about all of this. He sat down on his bed which was next to Zane's and looked towards Teddy "Sorry insenitive again." He said.
Ted sighed as Zane told him that Rosie was no better then him. Their friends, well besides Lily, hadn't a clue what had really gone down between him and Rosie. The two of them had their fights sure, but this was three days now. Soon or later they were going to catch on to the entire act, and realize that the two of the were finished for good. He let out another sigh as James came in all flustered and waved him off as he apologized. He sighed and looked at his two best friends. He couldn't tell them all the details, but he would try.
"I guess Rosie hasn't told anyone yet either." he muttered, moving to sit up on his bed, dangling his feet off the bed as he head looked at his feet. "You're probably wondering why I haven't gone and begged for forgiveness yet like I usually do." Ted began, sighing again and clamping his hands together. "Well, it was a full moon, and I was acting like a bastard, freaking out when she smiled at a guy, so I went off on my own as she did. Being the bigger one out of the two of us, Rosie came looking for me, but instead of finding Teddy, found Ted." he sighed, the two of them probably not understanding the difference. "I had gotten loaded with Lily, after she found me and begged me to drink with her, I wasn't the same guy Rosie loved. I was the total opposite." Ted said, his voice cracking a bit now. "I chased after her, but nothing I said made it any better. Finally I asked her not to end things like this and she said.. she.. she said it was too late." the last part was barely a whisper. Ted's hands clenched together now, his eyes shut tightly to hide the tears from falling.

Zane just smiled as James announced his arrival with a rant about Duros and detention, typical James. He listened carefully not wanting to interupt Teddy whilst he was in full flow, he looked like he was struggling as it was. "So," he said quietly when Teddy had come to the end of his speech, "I thought it must be something major, I'm really sorry." He let the silence drag on for a few minutes to allow Teddy some thinking time, "she'll take you back Teddy. She still loves you, and there's no use denying it because I can see it in her eyes." He looked to James hoping that he would provide some input that didn't involve detention or quidditch.

James sat and listened to what Teddy said. He made a mental note to talk to Lily about drinking again. He frowned thinking about it. "This doesn't make sense. She wouldn't be this pissed because he was wasted." he thought "something's missing." He shook himself out of his thoughts and looked towards Teddy concerned. It had been days now. "Look Teddy, Zane's right. She will definatly take you back. You guys love each other so much. She won't want to lose that." He got up sitting on Zane's bed looking at Teddy. All the fight had gone out of him since they broke up. "Just hang in there and she'll take you back. She probably needs a day or two to cool off."
Ted sighed as he heard the encouraging words of his two best friends, one of them being his cousin, the other being as close to him as a brother. "Guys, it's not going to be as easy." he sighed, rubbing the heels of his hand into his eyes. "And cooling off won't stop her from hating me, thinking I'm a cheating bastard." As much as he didn't want to, he knew he would have to explain himself to James and Zane. And hell, it was going to take a lot out of him to do so. Lily was like a sister to him, and an actual sister to James. And Lily was also Zane's girlfriend. This could really go terribly, but he had to explain.
With a deep sigh, he began another speech. "Now, you two have to promise me, no beating my head out when I'm done telling you what pissed Rosie off so much." he said, looking as his two friends before continuing. "Well, I want to tell you first, that both myself and Lily were really really... really drunk. I've never been as drunk as I was that night in my entire life. And James, you've seen me pretty drunk." he said, remembering the Christmas where he was so drunk he tore down the Christmas tree. Molly Weasley had sent him to his room for the rest of the night, and George got in a hell of a lot of trouble for giving Ted so much firewhiskey. "And well, then Rosie was in front of me, and she was really sad. And all I could think of was, what can I do to make it better? And it came to me, kiss her!" Ted exclaimed and then shoved his face in his palms. "But when I opened my eyes to see what the gasp was from, the green eyes I had imagined weren't there, instead.. well." Ted groaned and flopped onto his bed. "I threw up then, got a bit sobered up, and chased after Rosie, trying to tell her I was sorry, but she thought I was cheating on her with Lily. WITH LILY!" Ted laughed but it wasn't filled with joy as it usually was. "I'll do anything to get her back. But I don't know what to do. She won't even let me talk to her now." Ted sighed sadly, his eyes filling with tears again.

James listened to Teddy saying the Rosie wouldn't forgive him. He caught the bit about cheating and something in the back of his mind put two and two together straight away. He frowned hoping he was wrong. As Teddy told his version of events, James' theory solidified into fact and he scowled feeling furious at both Lily and Teddy and also sorry for Zane. He took a few deep breaths calming himself as he knew this wasn't Ted's fault. "But why did you accept the drink in the first place?" he asked. The answer was obvious, but he still wanted to know. He thought back to everything and said "How could Rosie be so stupid when it's obvious that you don't like Lils in any way other than friendship. Also Rosie should know Lils by knw and know that she wouldn't do anything to jepodise her relationship with Zane."

Zane waited, wanting to reassure Teddy that everything would be fine and that he and Rosie would forgive each other, but the chance never came. When Zane was just about to speak, Teddy had started a long speech, and so Zane just sat back, leaning against the headboard and listening carefully to Teddy's explanation. Ok, so the whole row is about Teddy drinking way too much once again. Well Rosie forgave him last time surely she will... Zane's thoughts broke off suddenly as he heard the next few words. Lily. Teddy and Lily. He closed his eyes hoping that he had just imagined those words which had just come from his best friend's mouth. He took a deep breath, trying to remain calm and resist the urge to fly at Teddy and knock him out of the window. He clenched his hand tightly into a fist, every fibre of his being telling him to punch the bastard who had kissed his girlfriend. When his temper was about to snap, Zane stood up suddenly and began to pace around the room. I'm not like that. I'm not like her. I'm not like them. I won't lose control of my temper. This string of thoughts went round and round inside his mind like a mantra, to keep him calm and in control. I've never been this bad before, I doubt they've ever seen me lose my temper and now this... I can't lose my temper. I won't ruin my clean slate. Slowly Zane stopped pacing and returned back to where he had been sitting a few moments ago. He didn't say anything, just looked into Teddy's eyes, trying to find the reasoning behind the madness. At last he managed to mutter a few words, no louder than I whisper, "I forgive you."
Ted watched as a the mix of his friend emotions. He looked to James as he had spoke first, Zane was still pacing around. "I think I was so pissed off 'cause of the full moon and the way Lily kept begging me is what caused me to drink. Rosie has every right to be pissed off at me. Hell, if I caught her kissing Zane I'd probably freak out, and the two of them are close enough to be brother and sister as well." Ted sighed, realizing for the first time since the incident that that's why she was so pissed. Not that she thought Ted was cheating on her, but because he kissed another girl, while dating Rosie, and she probably never would of found out.
He looked up at Zane as he forgave Ted and he smiled. He knew how hard it must of been on him, especially since Lily was his girlfriend, his new girlfriend. He knew he wouldn't want to screw anything up with her. It was one of those moments where he wanted to get up and hug Zane, but knew it wouldn't be appropriate. "So.. what am I supposed to do?" he asked his friends. If there was one thing he wanted to do, it was to make up for everything as soon as possible and get back to being friends with Rosie, at least. Better yet would be to go out with her again, but he would work that out later.

Zane remained quiet for a few minutes, the words still sinking in. The battle with his temper was over, for now anyway, and he hoped he would never come that close to snapping again, but of course, that was likely to happen, very likely, more so in fact due to recent developments. I need to talk to Rosie, she's probably in pieces. After all, she can't talk to Lily, she won't talk to Ted, and James is working on keeping Ted happy, that leaves me...I'll go and find her later... Zane looked up, just as Teddy asked for advice, "you've got to win her back. Gain her trust once more, convince her that you love her more than anyone else in the world. Show her how you regret everything that happened that night. Make an effort to stay away from the Firewhiskey. Just be yourself."

James looked between Zane and Teddy watching Zane's reaction closely wondering whether he would crack. He saw Zane's fury in his eyes and saw him ball his hand up into fists. There, he was genuinely glad not to be in Teddy's shoes. He watched as Zane resorted to pacing to calm himself down hoping it would work. He was still furious at the fact that he hadn't been there to stop his 15 year old sister from drinking herself silly. "Dad would kill me if he ever found out." he thought to himself. He watched as Zane calmed down and talked about getting Rosie back. He smiled thinking about ways to get her back "All I can think of is somehow proving to her that your love is still strong and that that thing with lily," he paused smiling apologetically at Zane, before continuing "was nothing at all and that you deeply regret it and gain her trust back."
Ted analyzed each of his friend's advice. Of course he'd win her back, hell he'd work forever to ean her trust back. Now, how to convince her that she meant the world to him? Maybe some sort of gift? A few muggle movie's came into mind, but something involving a boom box and trench coat told him that wasn't the way to win her back. Perhaps he'd get her something. What did Gran go on about? Hi great grandparents on his grandfather's side where Irish, and they had some tradition of sorts but he couldn' remember it at the moment. Maybe he'd owl his Gran about it. How would he get her to forgive him?
Firewhiskey was just as replusive to him as vomi bernie botts now. There was no way he was drinking anytime soon, maybe ever. How could he promise her that, and make her believe him at the same time? He looked up at James and Zane. "How the bloody hell am I going to proove to her that I love her more then anything in this world? That my heart feels like it's ripped out of my chest now because I've made he cry and I can't comfort her, kiss her, tell her it'll all be better?" Ted sighed looking at his hands. But he had to make this better, he's make it better if it was the last thing he did.
