"True, there really isn't a masculine way to compliment a guys eyes. And as for your common sense, I think you do. From what I've seen and heard at any rate." Levi shrugged, smiling a little as she frowned, though he desperately wanted to add something along the lines of but if you had more common sense you wouldn't be with Blake. But that wouldn't be appropriate, peoples relationships were something else he didn't care to judge, since his own history on the subject was less than sparkling.
"I never thought of using their whining against them at a later date, hmmm, interesting idea Niki, though I doubt I'll change my behaviour, what with my leaving at the end of the year. Branching out into the real world, putting all the things I've learnt here to good use." He smirked, he'd learnt a lot during his time at the school but most of his education had taken place outside of the classroom. He noticed her immediate step back and halted his motions. As she took a step forward he stayed where he was, keeping a careful mask of calm over his face. "What on earth are you sorry for?" He asked, with a fake cheeriness to his voice, he hated the melancholy in her voice, it made him nervous.
Nikita laughed, in complete agreement with Leviticus. "Sure isn't, and thank you." She mumbled the last part, not really sure if it was a compliment, yet fifty percent sure it was one. Cocking her head to the side, Nikita ignored Levi's next set of statements, until closing her eyes tightly in frustration of his last comment. She shook her head side to side, biting her lower lip in anguish. She didn't know what to say to that other than, Xavier hates cheating which was true, but why in hell would she say something like that? Leviticus would probably come to the false conclusion that Xavier was controlling. Which he was not.
Finally, coming up with a quick lie, she responded to her new found friend, her eyes solemn, "For stepping away. I must have caused you sorrow, friend." She lied perfectly, her eyebrow arched simply. "Nothing was wrong, dear. So chillax." She said stubbornly, not telling him a single thing. I mean why should she? She had only met the guy like twenty minutes ago anyways. What was the point in telling him everything when she didn't even really know if she could trust the guy to keep the secrets that she had been hiding. Hiding very well, might I add.

Levi watched Niki closely as he spoke, he saw her eyes close tightly, he saw her bite her lip and shake her head. He didn't know what was going on inside her head, and he doubted he'd find out, no matter how much he wanted to. He was starting to hate the draw he felt to Nikita, he'd always know she was beautiful, that was a given, but admiring her looks from afar was far easier than being so close to her, wanting her and knowing he couldn't have her. Then she spoke.
He nodded silently as she explained why she apologised, but he had a gut feeling that wasn't what she really wanted to say. "It's an understandable reflex, but I'm glad nothing's wrong." His voice was calm and measured against her stubborn tone. He didn't care that he'd only started talking to her twenty minutes ago he wanted her to know that she could trust him. Which was strange enough as it was, the only person in his world who could trust him completely up until that point was Tobie, and even that didn't make sense to Levi. But he knew he wouldn't betray Niki's trust either, no matter what, and not because he was afraid of her, or Xavier for that matter, no simply because he couldn't find it within himself to want to.
Nikita's mind whirled, and she thought of Xavier, and what she would do if she could see him right then and there. She wanted to talk to him, and for him to hold her tightly, close to his body, but she knew that he was studying. Studying hard for his test in potions the next day. Sure, Nikita had offered him help to study, but he declined it, not sure that they would be able to focus directly being in the same room with each other. She knew he was right though. She would want to start kissing him, and playing a little game of twenty questions. So, finally, Nikita shook him from her thoughts, focusing back on Leviticus whom had just spoken to her. Hopefully for the first time. She would hate to have to ask, 'What?', like a stupid idiot.
Eventually, Nikita responded to Levi, her voice controlled but obviously shaken by what had recently happened, "No, it's not an understandable reflex! Most girls would kill for a guy to be close to them!" She shouted stubbornly, looking around the room suddenly, seeking time away from his piercing eyes. "Good thing I'm not most girls, eh?" She mumbled to herself, the words not really meant for anyone else to hear. She was quite sure that Leviticus had heard them though. I mean she hadn't really whispered the words... "I'm sorry, if you got hurt by me moving away from you, but I have a boyfriend, and I'm different. I'm not some prissy gil who's just looking around for someone to do it with. Sorry."

Levi waited patiently for Niki to answer him but was slightly shocked by what she said when she finally did. He waited for her to finish speaking completely, fighting the smile that was trying to force its way onto his lips. "Firstly, it is and understandable reflex Niki, since you have a guy who's close to you." His voice was calm, but he chuckled softly, "No, you're not most girls. Which can only be a good thing. And for the record, you moving away didn't hurt me, it may have confused me for a fraction of a second but that's all, also, I am well aware of the fact you have a boyfriend, and you're not just some prissy girl who sleeps around. I never thought you were, and I'm sorry if that's the impression I gave you." He took a breath before continuing, "I want to be your friend Niki, that's all," He sighed internally at that thought,
[/b]"I respect you, and I hope you know you can trust me. So please, forgive my flirtatious nature, I'm sorry if it caused you any discomfort."[/b]
He was careful to be charming but not too charming as he mentally berated himself for what he'd just said. He was lying thorugh his teeth when he said he just wanted to be her friend, but it had to be done, a small lie was better than the truth in this instance, and was more likely to convince her to trust him, because yes he did want to be her friend but unfortunately, a part of Levi was wishing that Niki was just so girl looking for a quick thing, then maybe he'd be able to be rid of her from his mind. Nikita shrugged, feeling slightly exposed. She hated that feeling and she hugged her arms around herself, wishing with all her might that they were Xavier's arms. Or worse... that they were Scorpius'. She hated how hard it was to let go of the guy that had caused her so much heartbreak. She had wanted the Malfoy badly, but he soon broke her heart, but she didn't know why. He had disappeared. Simple as that, and Nikita had wanted him close by her side, but it looked like he would be gone for quite the while.
Nikita shook her head in denial, but she knew that it was true. It was an understandable reflex, but she just didn't want to believe it for some odd reason. Her hand clutched to her stomach as her heart shattered once more. every single time she thought about Scorpius, her whole world seemed to crash. Just like that, she fell to her knees, her eyes rimmed with tears. They were yet to fall into her endless despair though.
Nikita shook her head, imagining Levi as Scorpius. As if Scorpius had been saying all the things Leviticus was saying. She ignored his first couple statements, a tear falling from her eye as he said the next one. The words seemed to hit a nerve in her heart, sending tears rolling down her cheek, and a wild gasp for air. The fact that her moving away from him hadn't hurt him just sent Nikita into a state that Scorpius had never even wanted Nikita.
Nikita felt herself crumble, feeling like she was dying inside. "Well it hurt me. No, it killed me, Scorpius--" She cut off, flipping her eyes open, and looking up at Levi. She couldn't believe herself. She had called him Scorpius. No way in hell was he any Scorpius Malfoy. She ignored the rest of his statement, as she crawled to the nearest corner wrapping her arms around her legs securely. Her voice was breathless as she spoke, "Scorpius... come back,"

Watching as Niki hugged herself, he swallowed thickly, and something in him broke when she started crying. It wasn't his heart because for that to happen you'de have to love the person first and Levi was feverishly denying any possibility of that at the moment, he didn't fall in love. That just wasn't him.
Wait did she just call him Scorpius? As in Scorpius Malfoy? No, she couldn't have. But then she breathed the name again as she crumbled into the corner. It was devastating to see her in such a state, the strong, Nikita Snape, curled up in a corner of the Owlery with tears running down her cheeks was not an image he was likely to forget any time soon, in fact Levi was sure it would haunt him for some time to come.
"Niki?" He whispered moving over towards her slowly, kneeling in front of her he resisted the urge to brush a stray strand of hair from her eyes, since he was sure she wouldn't react well to it. "Niki, please tell me what's wrong?" He didn't understand why she was so distraught about the Malfoy boy, she'd never been involved with him, had she? He was sure she hadn't but what did he know? Levi was at a loss, he didn't deal well with tears, his own or other peoples, especially girls tears, they just seemed so delicate when they cried, and he had no clue what to do about it. All he wanted to do to make them stop, but he already knew his usually successful method of achieving that goal would not go down well with Nikita.
