Nikita walked down to the Black Lake all by herself. She goes down there every single night to remember her father. To think about him. Nikita loved her father very much, even though she didn't know him. She wanted to be just like him. She had heard stories about him. She wanted to be darker than he was though. She wanted to be more of a Dark Wizard. Nikita loved to think about her father.
Nikita also loved going down to the Black Lake, because it made her peacefull. The darkness surrounding you...the soft light of the stars, and the moon. Nikita enjoyed the sounds alot too. The sound of small waves on the Lake, the sounds of fish popping out of the water, the sound of animals stirring around her, and especially the sound of not being interrupted. Nikita wasn't afraid of darkness. She loved it. It made her feel safe, for some odd reason.
When Nikita finally reached the Black Lake, she went to the very edge where the water will almost touch your feet. She stood there looking out into the water. She couldn't see anything though. It was too dark outside, and the Black Lake was too. Nikita sat down, and then eventually layed down. She looked up at the stars, and the moon. Nikita sat back up, and slipped her sandals off, putting her bare feet into the icy water. Nikita did this every night. Nikita felt lonely tonight though. She wanted someone to be sitting next to her.

The crunching of twigs broke the silence of the thin night air as Corliss walked out of the woods. The tiny girl loved the darkness that came with the night. She twirled her wand in her fingers, having just 'practiced' her dark magic. A sly grin was painted on her innocent face, anyone could see the fake innocents she wore. It made her laugh, to think anyone could think she wasn't a threat. Well, her parents and teachers. They had to know that loving side of her. As for the rest of the students, well, they better watch their backs. Corliss looked around, finding it very boring not to have company tonight. She saw the silhouette of some person sitting by the lake. "Lumos." she whispered, letting the light spill from the wand. She saw the girl, Nikita Snape she believed. She grinned. Corliss had seen potential in the girl and wanted to know more about her. She saw the opportunity and grabbed it. She walked across the remaining distance with haste, not wanting to waste time. Finally, the Slytherin was behind her, eyes locked on the still water. "Beautiful isn't it? The lake is so cold, so dark. Yet, we find it so easy to trust." she muttered, finding the girl with an unsure look. She sat down with confidence that she didn't feel. She glanced back at the lake, a sigh escaped her pink lips. Corliss pulled off her black flats, tossing them to the side. She straightened her short legs, letting her heels touch the cool, black water. She laid back, putting her weight on her elbows, which she was propped up on. "I don't know if we have formally met. Hi. I'm Corliss Raven Malfoy. Who are you, my friend?" she asked with a smile. Most people don't tell people their middle names, but Corliss felt a strong love of her name. It felt empowering, so she let everyone know how she felt. She looked back to Nikita, waiting patiently.
Nikita listened to the sounds of the nature around her, then she heard a small, yet evil voice whisper, "Lumos." Nikita didn't turn to search for the source of the voice, she just waited. She wasn't afraid of whoever it was, she wasn't afraid of anything, except dying the same way her father did. Nikita listened harder, hearing the light footsteps on the ground, coming closer towards Nikita. She sighed, and looked up at the stars, still waiting patiently. She heard the footsteps stop right behind her.
"Beautiful isn't it? The lake is so cold, so dark. Yet, we find it so easy to trust."
The voice said, from behind her. Nikita smiled softly, when she recognized the voice. 'Corliss Malfoy.' She thought to herself. She heard Corliss sit down beside her, and watched her silently, with the corner of her eye. Nikita turned her head slightly to the side to get a full view of Corliss. Nikita smiled softly at her, being friendly. Corliss smiled back at her.
'I don't know if we have formally met. Hi. I'm Corliss Raven Malfoy. Who are you, my friend?'
Nikita listened to Corliss introduce herself to Nikita. Yes, Nikita already knew Corliss' name, but she didn't know her middle name. 'Raven. What a pretty name...' Nikita thought to herself. Then she turned to look at Corliss, as she asked for her introduction. "Hello, I'm Nikita Freya Delacour-Snape. I'd rather not be called Nikita Freya Delacour-Snape though. Just Nikita Freya Snape. I go by my father's last name. That's the only thing I have left of him. You can call me Nikita though, or Niki. Which ever, you may choose." Nikita smiled pleasantly at Corliss. She turned her head back up at the sky waiting for a response from her.

Corliss heard the girl's name. She smiled. Snape had been quite the Dark Wizard, until she had found out it had been a trick, Corliss had thought highly of the man. "Quite the name. I think it is nice. I'll remember to call you Niki Snape." she said, thinking about something. Wasn't that Weasley girl's mother named something Delacour? She raised an eyebrow in Nikita's direction. "So, your related to that Weasley girl aren't you?I'm not judging, seeing as your in the DE and she is in the NO. I just find it... Interesting." Corliss stated. Her blue green eyes caught some movement on the surface of the lake. She stared at it as the water settled. The Slytherin beauty locked eyes with Nikita. She wondered many things about this girl. Most of them couldn't be asked, not until she was better friends with her. That was her goal, to be friends with this girl. They had the same hopes about the DE. "So, Charlotte told me you think the DE is going to win? Ah, you are very smart, Niki. I think the same thing. I think that we could be great friends someday." she muttered, not meaning to say the last part. Still, the girl kept her face smooth, no emotion on her pretty face.
Nikita's jaw clenched as she heard what Corliss had asked her. Yes she was cousins with Weasleys. She hated being their cousins. That is why she forced her mother to leave them. "Sadly, yes I am. It's not right. I shouldn't be their cousin. I don't belong with Weasels." Nikita said the last sentence with disgust. "I wish that I could just dis-own them...do you know what I mean? On the bright side though, we are only related by marriage. Not by blood, which makes me absolutely NOTHING like them. Thank, God!" Nikita, gazed back up at the stars with peacefulness.
Nikita listened to Corliss with a peaceful heart. She smiled at her when she heard that they were going to be great friends someday. They would make a great team. A Malfoy, and a Snape... Nikita's father had been very good friends with the Malfoy's back when he was alive. She let her train of thought fade away and then she spoke to Corliss with determination deep in her voice, "I don't THINK that the DE will win... I KNOW they will win." Nikita stared into Corliss' eyes with determination, and promise in them. Then she continued, "Hopefully we will be great friends someday. It's in our blood isn't it? Our parents were friends, and your grandfather was good friends with my father. As was your grandmother." Nikita smiled at Corliss, happily. Then waited for her response.

Corliss tensed up as she heard the way Niki spoke of the Weasleys. "I understand perfectly. They are blood traitors. I feel for you." she said, hitting her heart lightly with her fist. She never had heard someone with that spoke with so much hate, save herself. She smiled, the feelings sinking in slowly. She blue green eyes darkened slightly. Her mind was racing. If the two girls were friends, they could rule Hogwarts when Charlotte, Kia, Miles and her brother had to leave. No one would stand in their way. No, she didn't want to take Charlotte's place. She wanted people to fear her. Corliss came back to the real world as she heard Nikita's voice. She jumped lightly. Corliss listened to her words with unexplained passion. She balled her hands into tight fists. Why couldn't they be friends? Ever sign pointed to this. They would be perfect friends. "Ah, you speak with much passion. I feel the same way. I was merely testing your trust and love for Death Eaters." she muttered. Her eyes lingered on the want in her eyes. She knew it could be faintly be seen in her eyes. "Yes, you are right. They were great friends. My grandparents talk highly of him. We could be friends someday. I hope we are friends someday." she said, looking back over the lake. She hadn't felt she said that the right way. Hoping that Nikita understood, Corliss awaited her response.
Nikita gazed up at the stars, wiggling her feet in the cool lake water, as she listened to Corliss. Nikita closed her eyes, and breathed in the cool air. She turned to look at the awaiting Corliss. Nikita smiled as she spoke, "Maybe, we could become friends tonight." Nikita spoke these six words truthfully. Tonight felt special...as if Nikita gained something. That something could possibly be another friend. This time not just any ordinary friend...a best friend. One that would stay by Nikita's side always. As would Nikita stay by her best friends side. Nikita sighed still smiling at Corliss. "I would hope your grandparents speak highly of him!" Nikita snickered. She was kidding of course, and she hoped that Corliss caught on to that. Nikita knew she would. Corliss was a very smart girl. Nikita looked back up to the sky feeling free, and peace full.
Nikita turned back to Corliss when she thought about something else to say. Nikita cleared her throat, and turned to Corliss, "Well, that is if you wanted to become my friend tonight." Nikita looked at Corliss, her heart not feeling quite as empty as it had before. Yes, Nikita had just met Corliss, and she wasn't completely positive if she could trust her. Something inside of Nikita forced her to trust her. All Nikita could do was just pray that Corliss wouldn't stab Nikita in the back. She highly doubted she would though.

Corliss felt warm inside as she heard Niki say they could become friends tonight. She had never had a true best friend. Of course, Kianthra and Charlotte were her friends, but she rarely told them her deep dark secrets. She told Scorpius her secrets mainly because he was her brother and she trusted him. She had always had an empty hole where a best friend should be. She wasn't one to be close to anyone, but there was something about Nikita that she liked. She wasn't sure if Nikita felt the same way, but Corliss was going to try to befriend her, whatever it took. "I hope we could too." she said, saying it from her heart. She laughed as she heard Niki. "Oh, I would hope they would too." she said. She wasn't use to joking around. This was new for her. "Of course I want to be your friend. That would be great." she said slowly, not sure how Nikita would react. She didn't really know the girl but the same thing went for Niki. They didn't know each other well, but that would change it they were friends. Corliss hopped that Nikita felt that same connection she felt. The Slytherin trusted the girl laying next to her, she had no idea why, but something about the Snape girl was trusting.
Nikita pulled her feet out of the water, and turned over to lay on her stomach. She smiled at Corliss, when she heard that Corliss wanted to become her friend. "Well, then I suppose were friends." Nikita smiled at Corliss, and thought about how much fun they were going to have together. Hopefully they would become BEST friends. Not just normal friends. "What should we do, friend?" Nikita laughed, she had never felt this happy in her life. It was very odd. Corliss made her very happy. She had a good feeling about their new friendship.

Corliss laid back leaving her bare feet in the still water. She laughed louder than normal as she heard Nikita say they were friends now. She rolled over on her side, propping her head up on her fist. She pulled her legs up behind her. "I think your right. I don't know about you, but I am hopping we can be best friends, not just friends." she said, feeling that she could be truthful with Nikita. "Well, friend, I really don't know. I wasn't thinking that I was going to make a good friend tonight. I was just coming to sit and watch the lake." she said, feeling warm inside which was weird for her.
Nikita ran her hands through the soft dirt/sand. She closed her eyes, and listened softly to Corliss. They were going to be best friends. Nikita could feel it in the pit of her stomach. Nikita wanted to be her best friend. Nikita opened her eyes once more, and chuckled softly at what Corliss had said. Then she decided it was her time to speak after Corliss had finished. "It's like you read my mind. I'm also hoping we will become best friends, and truthfully...I believe that we will become best friends." Nikita laughed harder after she had spoken. Tonight was just a really good night for her. She had just made an amazing friend, that will most likely become her best friend very soon. They would make a great team when they became seventh years. Mind you, they would make a great team now! Nikita's heart throbbed, with fullness.
Nikita looked at Corliss, her eyes a very pale, striking blue. The light must have had some affect on them. It was most likely the moon, and stars reflecting off the lake's water, and into Nikita's eyes. Nikita loved being out here. It relaxed her, and helped her sort things out that she had went through during the day. It also helped her forget about unwanted memories. Well, at least for the time she was out by the Lake. Nikita decided it was time to come back to life. "It's kinda hard to watch the Lake though, isn't it? It's very hard to see, when it becomes dark like this, don't you agree? Do you come out here very often?" Nikita asked Corliss question after question, she was very curious, and then Nikita continued, "I come down here, every single night. It soothes me. The darkness, and coldness, it brings. I don't understand why Gryffindors don't like the darkness, or the coldness. The coldness makes a little sense to me, but the darkness i don't understand. The coldness is probably because they aren't cold like us. I don't understand the darkness at all though..." Nikita trailed off, leaving her train of thought.
Nikita, still staring at Corliss, responded to her second to last sentence, "I also, wasn't expecting to make a new friend tonight. Even if I did expect it, I probably wouldn't have expected you." Nikita laughed softly at her last sentence, and then continued once more, "I'm happy it's you though. Very happy actually. I hope you feel the same way." Nikita looked away from Corliss, and then back at the silver stars, and the moon, waiting for words to be spoken...particularly out of Corliss' mouth.

Corliss grinned, laughing lightly. She didn't have to guard her thoughts and feelings when she was around her new friend. She felt comfortable for the first time in her life. She Listened to Nikita ask her a million and one questions. She nodded her head at the right time and laughed when necessary. She fell back to her back as Niki finished, she looked at the stars, not wanting this night to end. Making friends wasn't the easiest thing for the Slytherin girl to do. Most people had been cursed by her so they weren't wanting a friend like her. Little did they know, Corliss never, in her sixteen years, had back stabbed her friends. Well, that was saying little seeing as though she only had a few friends. Nikita would find that out for herself. Corliss laughed softly as Nikita finished. "Well, I see we are playing the question game! Here are your answers: I agree, Gryffindors are just 'not cold' they are stupid, I'm glad you feel the same way about this whole best friends things, and I think it is my turn now." she said, sending Niki a sideways wink. She smiled up at the sky. "How is it? Living without a father? You don't have to answer that. It was rude of me to ask. It is just that I can't stand the thought of losing my dad." she said, feeling bad for the girl next to her. Corliss didn't know how Nikita would react to her asking her about Snape. She hopped she wouldn't mind, but she didn't know. "So, are you part veela? I know that Wealsey is part Veela part Werewolf, but I had a feeling you weren't part Werewolf. If I'm wrong correct me." she said softly. "Oh, I forgot to answer one of your questions! I do come down her alot. I do some 'practice' in the woods and come here to relax afterward." she said.
Nikita listened to Corliss, as she asked her first question. Corliss had a father, but Nikita wasn't jealous of that. Nikita rolled on her back, also, beside Corliss, gazing up at the thousands of stars she looked at every single night. She didn't mind Corliss asking about her father. She just never expected it. "Well, it was different for me, at the beginning... you see, I never KNEW my father, therefore it's different for the people that knew their father's and then lost them. I didn't know who my father was before my mother told me about him. I just knew I didn't have a father. I watched the rest of my family... the weasels grow up with their father's... they would play together, and just bond. They had nicknames for each other. Like, 'daddy's little girl', and so on. They could speak the word 'daddy' all the time, while I never had the chance to. But, when i found out who my father was, and found out all he had done... I felt closer to him, and my heart felt a little bigger. I use to cry at night, but then I got stronger, and now I don't cry over him anymore. It's going to be a lot different for you, when you loose your father. You're going to want revenge on who ever killed him. That is if someone killed him. You see, I don't want revenge on Voldemort, or Nagaini. Well, I can't have revenge on them for one thing. I don't despise them either. Nagini was basically Voldemort though. She was one of his horocruxs'. I feel more passion for him, and I admire him even more for killing my father. You're probably not going to feel like that though. Just remember this; You will be reunited with your father eventually, and your heart will be reformed. Life will go on, Corliss." Nikita ended her last sentence, and looked into Corliss' eyes.
Nikita let her words seep through Corliss. Then, she decided to answer Corliss' other questions, "Yes, I am half Veela. Or, a fourth Veela. I'm not positive, but yes." Nikita smiled at Corliss, and then looked back at the stars, her eyes sparkling with delight.

Corliss listened to Nikita speak, she heard the words, but couldn't grasp the though of never knowing her father. She felt odd as Niki finished the long tale. She sighed. Yes, if someone killed her dad she would kill them for that, but she had no doubt that no one would attempt to kill him. That did bring up a valid fact though. She was caught off guard by the fact that her friend admired He Who Must Not Be Named for killing Snape. She looked into the girls eyes, The words she spoke have depth, real meaning. Normal conversations only scratch the surface of life. They mostly have no meaning, unless your talking to someone like Nikita Snape. Corliss was lost for words. It was not until Niki lightened the mood with the Veela part of the conversation that Corliss found her voice. "Wow. Niki, I never knew you felt that way. I see what you mean. I don't know how I would have felt about Him if he had killed my dad. But, with you talking about him like that, telling me how it was o grow up without a father figure, it sounds very hard. I would not have lasted the first few years of finding out how he had died if her were my father. I really can't imagine how you must have felt. You have blown my mind, Niki. That is a hard thing to do, mind you." she said, smiling weakly. "Well, I can tell you have Veela in you. You are very pretty, to say the least." she muttered, not liking to have to compliment anyone else. No matter, you couldn't hear the strain in her voice. Only if she wanted you to hear the emotions in her voice would you hear them. She told her friend she was pretty because she meant it, you could hear that in her her voice.
Nikita was looking up at the stars, while Corliss talked to her. Nikita felt very happy tonight. She had just gained a new friend. This time it wasn't just any friend... it was a best friend. Nikita smiled softly, and decided that it was her turn to talk, "Thank you, Corliss. You are very pretty yourself." Nikita spoke these words with truth. She was never going to lie, or keep anything from Corliss. She would tell her everything. Nikita turned her head to look at Corliss. "I hope you got something out of the words, I spoke about my father. I hope I answered your question the right way. Did I?" Nikita looked into Corliss' blue-green eyes, waiting patiently for her answer.
