Appearance[/u][/size]
→ celebrity: mister nicholas jonas.
→ looks: all the corner men are known for their dark hair, and slightly brooding stares with a lean, athletic figure. emerson is no different. with dark brown, unruly curls for hair, and dark brown eyes that are often shining with new discoveries, emerson is not unlike his father. perhaps a bit shorter, standing at five nine, but with that athletic posture that lets people know he can mean business. compared to other boys around his age, emerson relies on his long legs, and thin but lithe body instead of muscles and brawn. brains first and foremost, but not weak. in all honesty, he's rather plain looking, with perhaps a boyish cute look about him.

→ personality: If you knew Mandy Brocklehurst during school, most people would expect Emerson to be rather….eccentric. Somehow, Emerson can still manage to surprise you anyway. Emerson can leave you completely speechless, with absolutely no idea if he can get any crazier. Because yes, you might think he's crazy, but I can assure you he's not. He just looks at the world through different eyes and wants to live his life the way he wants it. And no matter how hard you may try, there is no way you can stop him.
Let's start on the outside, shall we? If you ever get the pleasure of sitting next to Emerson in a class, it certainly won't be a normal day for you. The first thing you'll probably notice is that Emerson is a perfect gentleman. He'll probably start ordinarily enough. If you don't already know him, he'll politely tell you his name and ask for yours. He'll ask how your day is going and if you would like some Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. He snuck them into class, you see. Emerson is absolutely polite. Emerson would act this way whether you are a fellow Ravenclaw or a rude Slytherin who tells him to shut his trap. Emerson will still treat you the exact same way. He is kind and outgoing, open and sympathetic. But maybe you already expected this of him. He is a charming looking boy after all.
Now don't expect him to keep this up the entire class. Once the lesson starts, he'll move to his notes. He must seem very dedicated to his class work because he doesn't speak to you the rest of class. Now the above assumption is wrong. He didn't stop talking to you because he was listening to the professor. He got bored with you. Emerson gets bored extremely easily. He'll analyze you for several minutes (possibly just seconds if you're really that boring to him) and can ask you the most random questions. He'll move from hopes and dreams, to if you know anyone with spattergroit, to your knowledge of muggle history, to whether or not you've ever kissed a girl and why, to if you'd ever want to go swimming with the giant squid, to what kind of music you like, to…well you get the idea. He wants to see how you answer them. Emerson's mind is constantly moving, constantly changing direction. If you can't keep his interest for very long, say good-bye, buster, because he's already gone on to someone or something else. Em isn't very likely to be paying complete attention to the class either. Maybe half of him is. The other half is looking out the window or at his next victim to be questioned.
There is a half that is listening though. If the Muggle Studies professor asked a question about the lesson at hand, Emerson will spurt out a whole spiel about how muggles have created all sorts of technologies to live without magic and how they are so primitive, even if they think that they're the smartest most advanced creatures on the planet. Even after the professor says that he has said enough, Emerson will go on to explain the pros and cons of everything, from televisions and computers to traffic jams and soft-serve ice cream. Em will even explain how magic could improve all of this. After the rather taken aback professor finally orders Emerson to take his seat, Emerson won't even feel a tiny bit smug. Nope, he'll just go back to something new and even more impressive. The surprising thing is how Emerson can remember all of the these things when he probably has the worst memory Hogwarts has ever seen. He'd forget his own birthday if randombestfriend didn't have the same one and remind him of it. Emerson usually has to cram the information into his head before a test, but he won't stress. He'll do just fine.
Emerson is very good at keeping his cool. Very blasé, Emerson will not blow up at the smallest insult. He will not even fight back. You could throw some punches (or curses I suppose) at him and he'll just try and dodge and walk away. Unless you're in a dueling lesson. Then he'll throw them back at you with all he's got. But that's beside the point. Emerson does not stress out, does not scream when he's upset, and does not take offense to any insult you can give him. Of course, maybe he just believes that you don't really mean it. Emerson is very naïve. He isn't very good at distinguishing the truth from a lie. You could tell him the world is ending tomorrow, and even though he will ask you how, why, when exactly and can we stop it, Emerson will probably believe it. Well until tomorrow passes and the world is still up and running. But Emerson is easy for someone to use because he is far too trusting. He believes in people before he really gets to know them. Sometimes this could be considered good. Emerson has a good heart and he offers people second chances. But he really doesn't get it all that good. Part of him thinks the Saints just want to help and what they're doing is kind of right, but still wrong at the same time. Interestingly enough, Emerson might believe everyone is always telling the truth because he is. Emerson is infallibly honest. He could probably come up with a decent lie if he needed to, but Emerson would never. He hates lies and secrets. Emerson can be seen as…well…. "outspoken". He might say some things that would definitely be better left unsaid. But you try and explain that to him. He won't listen to you.
But there is that eccentricity we mention earlier, isn't there? Added onto by his naiveness, Emerson believes in things like nargles and wrackspurts and other magical creatures you've never heard of. You may call him crazy or an idiot or anything you like, but Emerson will keep on believing until you somehow manage to prove with documentation, facts, charts, graphs, pictures, archaeological digs, travel all over the world, shamans from ancient rainforests, a muggle American and a vampire with gum disease that there is no way that this creature exists. Emerson has a very active imagination. He is very creative and manages to put it all into his writing or music. When not playing guitar, piano, singing, or including himself in some other musical activity, Emerson is a very talented writer. It's what he wants to be when he graduates actually. He writes all the time: in class, in the common room, in the middle of a conversation, at breakfast, in the bathroom, at lunch, in a tree somewhere, and anywhere else except when he's swimming. It gets the paper soggy.

→ family history: Michael Corner was born in 1979, thus being the same age as the infamous Harry Potter. He grew up in a relatively pureblooded family, with perhaps a stray muggle or squib here and there, but nothing too significant. Growing up, he was a rather intelligent boy, showing magic early in life and proceeding to Hogwarts like any other. Upon being sorted (in to Ravenclaw) he instantly befriended two of his dorm-mates, Terry Boot and Anthony Goldstein. The three lads were rather inseperable, and really only parted due to classes intervening. He had a few girlfriends here and there, but prefered to focus on his studies rather than the social scene. However, during fourth year, a fiery little redhead named Ginny Weasley caught his eye during the Yule Ball. They befriended one another, and ended up dating at the end of his fourth year.
In fifth year, he joined the now infamous Dumbledore's Army as one of the original members, perhaps influenced by his relationship with Ginny. Unfortunately, he brought unneccessary attention to the "army" which thus eventually led forward to it's demise. Michael was a rather sore loser, and after Ravenclaw's latest loss against Gryffindor, ended it with Ginny and began dating Cho Chang, a fellow team-mate. Mister Corner was also one of the few (along with best mate Terry Boot) to manage to get an O in Potions, and receive Slughorn's Advanced Potions class.
During his seventh year, Michael Corner fought alongside Harry Potter during the Battle of Hogwarts, and was found missing for a week before finally emerging seemingly unhurt. After this, he began seeing Mandy Brocklehurst, a young girl in his House whom he had found attractive for some time, but never payed her any mind due to age differences. At age twenty-seven, Michael finally married Miss Brocklehurst, now Mrs. Corner and settled for a Ministry job.
(not much is known about mandy, so she is excluded. but you get the picture.)
→ self history: Emerson Alexander Corner was born the second of two children on one April 23rd. He was younger than JJ by --- years, which JJ enjoyed pointing out at every chance he got. It wasn't a tough decision when naming Em - Mandy and Michael had each picked out one boy name, and one girl name, and after the birth, they would decide on which better fit. After several long, grueling hours in labor, a healthy baby boy was born - crying hysterically and face red. For some unknown reason, Mandy and Michael decided to combine their boy names to make Emerson Alexander: a perfect fit, it seemed, for his pink round face.
Emerson's family life was pretty good. His parents were very caring and loving. They took great care of their children. While Emerson and JJ were young, they got babysat by their grandfather while Michael and Mandy were off pursuing new careers and making a decent living for themselves and their kids. Despite the jobs occupying a lot of their time, Em's parents found the time to spend evenings with him and JJ, and Emerson and his parents formed a close bond. Em looked up to his parents considerably, and would often dress up in Michael's dress robes or suits, ties adorning his thin frame.
As for his brother, Emerson saw him as his best friend during the younger days. Always together on a great adventure through their backyard, battling pirates and aliens with a flick of a wand (made from random twigs) or swords (made from longer branches). They created new worlds for themselves, ignoring the slight age difference and trying their best to be there for each other. When Grandfather Brocklehurst passed away, however, the Corner family faced difficulties they never thought to happen. Moving from their small cottage home to a flat above Madam Rosmerta's (Mandy's mother), Mandy then became a barmaid as well as keeping her job within the Ministry.
