Ted groaned as he rubbed his eyes, after reading thorugh his History of Magic paper for the third time now. After the recent developpement, Ted had been spending a lot of the time in the library, working on his class work, something he barely did. He yawned and streched, looking around him and seeing barely anyone around. Looking out the window told him it was late, so that was understandable. He was surprised the librian hadn't shooed him out of the place yet. Ted looked back at his essay and deemed it alright, since he no longer had anyone to look over it for him.
Rosie still wasn't talking to him, and he completely understood why, it just hurt to see her in the hallways and immedietly look away from him when she caught him looking at her. It hurt not to wait for her every morning to come down the stairs or find her waiting to take her to breakfast. She would go really early or really late so that she could avoid him, and in their classes she always found someone else to sit with. Everyone gave him sad looks but he just wanted to ignore them all, tell them to leave them alone. But what he wasn't looking forward to was talking to Hugo. Yeah, he had gotten a few glares, but the boy was ready to blow at him any day now. He may be three years younger then him and Rosie, but he never liked Ted, no matter how hard her tried. He wondered what he could do when he heard footsteps coming closer to him.
The Library. One of the places that Hugo rarely (if ever) visited, simply because it was filled with things he couldn't stand.
Nerds.
You thought it was going to be books, didn't you?
At any rate, Hugo also disliked the library because of the noise level (or lack of one, rather). The truth of the matter was, that the large area was almost completely silent, aside from the rustling of turning pages of books or the occasional snoring sound from an all-night studier. Sometimes Hugo was one himself, and if he fell asleep...well it wouldn't have been the first time. For some reason the smell of parchment and the soft sound the carpet made when walked upon was strangely relaxing...
As soon as Hugo had made it passed the Librarian, he smirked and concentrated on transforming. He had only realized that he had this strange ability to morph into an animal a few days ago and he was having fun messing with it. In a matter of moments, Hugo had turned from a fifteen year old boy to a young, chocolate lab puppy with a wagging tail and lovable face. He trotted through the Library carelessly, winding through the labryinth of book cases and occupied tables crowded with studying students.
He approached one table and frowned severely (As much as a dog could) when he saw who was sitting there. Teddy Lupin. He had never been fond of him, and now that Ted had decided to rip his sister's fragile little heart in a million pieces his dislike had grown rapidly into a fierce hatred. Closing his eyes and returning to his former state, Hugo rolled his shoulders, crossing his arms loosely around his middle.
"Ted," he said curtly, a sour look on his face as he walked to a nearby book case, running his fingers across the spines of several books until he found one that loook semi-interesting, plucking it off the shelf and opening it. He grabbed the back of a chair opposite to Ted, spinning it and sitting down on it backwards.

Ted looked up as the footsteps came closer to him, wondering who was coming up to him. Barely anyone talked to him anymore, it was only really Zane and James. He was either to depressed to talk to, or people somehow knew he was at fault for the break up between him and Rosie. But when his eyes rose up at saw Hugo, he gulped. He knew he was about to get an earful now. Hugo was extremely over protective of his sister, which Ted was well aware of over the years. He never liked him and Rosie, and he knew now after seeing her cry he was about to get yelled at.
Ted sighed and rubbed his hands in his face. "Hey Hugo." he said politely, as he had since he tried getting him on his good side, which he was giving up on now somewhat. He made a fist with his right hand, his left hand covering it and he leaned his elbows on the table. He rested his chin on his hands for a moment, seeing if Hugo would break the silence. When more glaring persisted, Ted sighed again. "Well, might as well get this over with now. Go ahead, tell me how much of an ass I am." Ted said, his face expressionless.
Hugo didn't flinch as Ted switched his sitting position, and continued to page through his book...which wasn't all that interesting after all. Something about the history of cornish pixies and where you could find them and all that jazz. The only questiont that arose in Hugo's mind was 'Well, who in the world would be that interesting in cornish pixies!?' Well, according to the front cover, a certain H.J Wallmen did. What a boring name to occupy a boring book.
"Why would I tell you what you already know?" Hugo asked stiffly, not lifting his eyes from the print and furrowing his brow. "Did you know that cornish pixies disguise themselves as rags to lure children out to play?" he asked, not really caring about Ted's response. After a few more moments of silence, Hugo closed the book and put it down on the table, putting his arms on the back of the chair and resting his chin on his arms. "I'm not gonna tell you what an ass you are, or how much you hurt Rosie. I won't remind you of how much you hurt her, and how many times you made her cry or how many times I stayed up late with her the common room and made sure she was alright before she went to bed. I'll never tell you about when she used to tell me crazy tales of her imagination running wild; on the days when she told me that one day you two'd get married and have kids or whatever." Hugo said, completely stone-faced. "And I'll never, ever tell you how much I want to sock you right in the face right now. Nope. I'm gonna keep it all inside."
Ted was about to reply sarcastically to Hugo but he had already informed him that he didn't care about what Ted said by telling him a fact about Cornished pixies. "I believe I've heard it once, mind you I wouldn't be able to tell you the occasion." Ted said, waiting for Hugo to lay it all out in front of him, which of course he did. Ted watched as he put the book aside and returned to look him straight in the eye, allowing he to speak. He was aware of how many times he hurt her, probably each resulting in late nights with Hugo. What he was not aware of was the fact that Rosie had imagined them getting married. Sure, it had crossed Ted's about a half a dozen... well times that by twenty, times, but he never expected her to feel the same way. He had to hold back the smile that wanted to cross his face, since he had probably lost that chance.
"You know, aggression isn't something you should keep in." Ted told Hugo before running a hand through his hair. "Since your not going to tell me anything, I won't tell you how I know I've hurt her, how I know the numerous times I've made her cry, how I've really screwed up the best thing that's ever happened to me. And I'm definitely not going to tell you how I've been up late each night because I know tomorrow I probably won't talk to her, how she'll probably look away from me again when she see's me, how she won't sit with me in any of our classes together, and how my heart feels gone without her in my life." he said, his face mimicking Hugo's.
Hugo looked down as Ted spoke, concentrating on his words. He wouldn't let Ted read his eyes; because in all honesty Hugo wasn't sure what emotion would be present in them, if any at all. Ted knew that he had mad a mistake and he was upset and remorseful...but Hugo wasn't ready to forgive him. Call him crazy, but he just didn't trust him. He wasn't sure if he ever would. Sometimes he wondered why he held such an animosity towards Ted and not towards any of Rosie's other past boyfriends...but he did. Everyone else seemed to love Ted; his parents, his uncles and aunts, his grandparents...not to mention all of his cousins, and every student who attended Hogwarts besides those snot-nosed Slytherins.
"Sometimes I wonder if you even have a heart at all, Ted." Hugo said quietly, still not looking up. He seemed to be in deep thought, and a silence passed between the two Gryffindors. "Because, well, I don't know about you," Hugo looked up. "But I hate to see my sister cry." he growled. "So if you know what's best for you, you'd stay away from Rosie because in the end, all you do is hurt her. That's what every guy has done to her. And guess what? Right now, I just want her to be able to pick up the pieces and keep them glued together for awhile." he continued, picking at the corner of one of the pages of his discarded book.
Hugo's quite murmur didn't go unheard. Ted was used to the comments by now frm Hugo, so the blow wasn't as painful as it used to be. He stood still in his position, like a statue as Hugo spoke. "Well look at that, we have some mutual. I hate seeing Rosie cry as well, although you probably don't believe that. But every time she hurts, I hurt. It's the connection we have I guess." Ted said, his voice monotone. He was not unaware of the growl, he just chose to ignore it. Everyone knew he and Vic where the only ones who could really growl, since their fathers had werewolf genes.
Ted sighed, this part would not go over well. "Well Hugo, I'm sorry to say but right now I'm working on a plan to win her back. You see Hugo, she means too much to me for this misunderstanding to ruin seventeen years of friendship. I atleast want the friendship back, and that's my first goal. Second would be for us to both admit we like each other and the final being the return of the only true love and best thing I've had." Ted said, now a smile plaing on his face. "Sorry Hugo, but whatever you say to me is not going to change my mind."
"And you don't think I have a connection with her? I'm her brother, Ted! And I know her a lot better then you ever will!" he snapped, eyes livid as Ted made such a claim. Connection? He had no idea what a real connection was. Picking at his nails, which were already as short as possible, Hugo tried his hardest to contain his anger. He knew that he'd get in huge trouble if he picked a fight with a seventh-year in the library; and he'd probably get his butt kicked, anyway. Ted was a lot bigger then he was; and he'd have no problem just picking Hugo up right off the ground if he wanted to, seeing as Hugo was so small.
"You're so selfish," Hugo commented flatly. "It's all about you. You plan to win her back. You don't want to end the friendship. You want her to come back to you. Did you ever think about what she wants?" he asked harshly. "At least I care about her well being. Because yea, I put up with you while you two dated. I didn't try and rip you guys apart because I knew she was happy. And now that she's got you out of her life, she'll be better off." he finished, his blood at a boiling point.

Ted shook his head. "I didn't say you didn't have a connection with her Hugo, of course you do. I'm just saying that there's this weird connection with the two of us, something that always brings us back together." Ted said, trying to explain the relationship he had with Rosie. Neither of them could ever explain it. They always knew what the other needed, without even one word muttered, sometimes even before the other realized they needed whatever. And appearently they had always been like that, since day one they had been the best of friends.
Ted bit his lips, realizing that that did indeed sound a bit selfish. "Oh god, I didn't mean it like that at all Hugo. I'm going to try and win her back, and if she doesn't want me, then I'll leave her be. If she never wants to talk to be again, then fine, I'll be good with it. But hell Hugo, I'm going to try my bloodly best to fix what I've screwed up, as I've always done in the past. Besides, I think this time it'll be different." Ted said, another smile escaping onto his lips.
Hugo didn't say a word as Ted first spoke. He knew deep down that Ted had a connection with Rosie; it was a unique and special connection that no one could match. In a lot of ways, it was like the connection he had with Lils; they just, well, clicked. But then Ted had overstepped ihs boundries by trying to be with Rosie. Like, always be with Rosie, which really ticked Hugo off. However, Hugo wasn't dumb; he knew that he was extremely jealous of Ted. Of the fact that he was everything he wasn't. Tall, rather than being a unnaturally short. Handsome, rather than being just a childish sort of cute. Brave, which Hugo certainly wasn't to a degree. And everyone loved him. And yea...a lot of people just regarded Hugo as a little strange. He was a great Quidditch player, while Hugo fell short in that department (no pun intended) and was much better at Muggle sports.
"And everything always works out for you, doesn't it, Ted?" Hugo asked, standing up and crossing his arms over his chest. "You get everything you want. Always. The grades, the girls, the looks, the popularity. Congrats, you've topped me. You've got everyone beat. I hope that makes you feel better." Hugo said. "And I might not have any of that, but at least I know that I have my sister...and you'll never take her away from me. Blood is thicker then water." he finished, feeling a little proud of himself.
Ted shook his head. He have everything? That was a riot. "Everything doesn't work out for me Hugo. Yes, I somehow manged to get good enough grades to get accepted into the Auror's academy. The only girl I've wanted is you sister, and she doesn't want anything to do with me a the moment. The looks are only because I'm a metamorphagus, I'd probably butt ugly without them. I have a few good friends, the others don't matter to me. And listen Hugo, because I.." he thought for a moment, trying to decide on the phrasing. "because I went out and love your sister doesn't mean I'm taking her from you. She'll always be your sister." Ted said, his eyes trailing on Hugo's face.
"And frankly, I'm envious of you. First of all, your not as popular as me no, but I wish I wasn't. Frankly I'm sick of the countless valentines days where I can't eat a thing, afraid girls have slipped some sort of love potion in my chocolate or turkey for that matter. Your adorable, go ahead, beat me up for that comment but I loved my adorable stage. You can get out of anything. Now I'm just some sweating older guy that people somehow find attractive." he took in a deep breathe, knowing these ones always hurt him when he thought about it. "Then you have Rosie. I would love to have a older sister, or younger. Maybe a brother or two. I've always wanted siblings. Sure, I have James, Lily and.." he stopped, the recent loss of Albus was still hard on the family. "I had Albus, but they weren't the same. They weren't Lupins. And that brings me to my final point. You, Hugo Weasley, have a mother and a father who love you very much, who see you every holiday and during the summer. I'm getting to the point where I'm loosing the memory of Dad kissing my forehead before he went off to fight, leaving me with Mum. And even when she did the same, saying she would come home, to be strong for Mummy and Daddy until they came back." Ted said, taking a deep breathe. "Harry and Ginny have been very generous to me, but it's not the same. So you, Hugo, should not take what you have for granted." Ted said, looking down at the table now.
