It was that fateful time of the week once again, where the Gryffindors and Slytherins had double potions together. The two seventh year houses filled into the dungeon and took their seats; Slytherin on the left and Gryffindor on the right. The students huddled close to the bubbling cauldrons which provided a respite from the cold dungeon. Various glares, raised eyebrows and the occasional insults were exchanged until the door opened. The footsteps echoed throughout the large dungeon until the potions master eached the front. "Turn to page 179 and read." The rustling of pages and the occasional whisper of "what page was it again?" soon died down and silence reigned. Zane looked across at Rosie who was reading the page and Teddy who was staring at the opposite wall. He whispered, "I'm sure he's under Rosie. Look at the eyes, they're clouded. They've got him alright, I just wonder how many others they have got under their command." Zane glanced across at Kianthra and Scorpius who were smirking. "How many of them do you think it took them to get him? Two? Three?" his voice broke off as Duros looked up from the parchment.
He quickly returned back to the page he was supposed to be reading. He checked to see whether Duros had returned to his parchment before continuing, "so that means we know they've got Duros, Fliynn, Sinstra and the caretaker..."he was interupted by the sounds of Duros's footsteps echoing around the dungeon as his checked to see that everyone was working. "TEDDY!" Zane whispered and motioned to Duros, both of them turned back to the chapter in question. The uses of Hellebore and how...boring Five minutes later, when the sound of the footsteps stopped, Zane looked up once more. "OK, so they've got more teachers than we originally thought, that could be a problem".
Zane looked across the dungeon to where his sister and Scorpius were sitting. It looked as though they were planning to through something across the classroom, though Zane couldn't see what it was. His question was soon answered when the silence was shattered with a loud bang. On the desk in front of them where some other Gryffindors were sat, the cauldron had just exploded. A piece landed on Zane's desk. He looked up to see the two girls covered in a lilac liquid. Duros was on his feet and had already vanished the potion. He ordered the girls to go to the Hospital Wing and then fished out the remains of a firework from what used to be the cauldron. Zane looked back down at the page but heard the approaching footsteps. He looked up and Duros was standing right in front of his desk. He waved the firework in Zane's face and then said, "Thought that was funny did you?" Zane shook his head and said, "no sir," Duros raised his eyebrows at him then returned to his desk muttering, "10 points from Gryffindor".
Zane looked across the dungeon to where Kianthra and Scorpius were in fits of laughter, but somehow managing to remain silent. Zane returned back to the chapter, having already read it through twice already, he was fed up with Hellebore. Taking a spare piece of parchment, he drew pictures of the New Order. He glanced at Teddy and he shrugged as if to say, hard luck mate. Of course it was obvious that Duros favoured the Slytherins, just following the Potions Master stereotype. The next few minutes dragged by, with little whispered conversations breaking out across the dungeon. "Quieten down" was all he said to the Slytherins when they began talking. The silence continued for a while, until it was shattered once more.
"LESTRANGE!"
There was no doubt it Zane's mind whether Duros was addressing him or Kianthra. "Yes sir," he said, what have I done this time? Zane's question was soon answered.
"MOVE, THERE, NOW!"
He pointed to where Kianthra was sitting in the middle of Charlotte and Scorpius. This was soon followed by, "Miss Lestrange, would you please relocate to that seat over there as you brother seems incapable of sitting with his friends without talking." Zane picked up his book and school bag, crossing the room to Kianthra's seat, she glared at him as they crossed paths. Zane sat down in Kianthra's seat and dropped his book onto the table. Great, two hours sat between the Leader of the DE and her Second-in-Command. He glanced over to Rosie, she didn't seem to pleased with the new seating arrangements. Teddy's face simply read, sorry mate.
Could things get any worse?
