Running across the entrance hall, blood dripping onto the floor, Zane carried Lily in his arms up the steps towards the grand staircase. Each step proved more difficult than the last, as he battled his own pain with that of getting Lily to the Hospital Wing as quickly as possible. "Keep your eyes open Lils, don't close them" he said quietly, as he began climbing the grand staircase, keeping an eye out for any staircase that decided to randomly start moving or change direction. I could take a shortcut, but there's no guarantee that it would be open. I'm pretty sure it was blocked last time I used it. He paused outside the painting in question, before looking at Lily. And he got moving again, faster than before. Second Floor. Still climbing. Third floor. Come on nearly there. Fourth Floor. As soon as the staircase locked into place, Zane began running down the corridor towards the Hospital Wing.
He burst through the double doors at the end, earning him several glares from other students who were gathered there. He stopped by the nearest bed, carefully putting down Lily. Madam Pomfrey had acknowledged their arrival but didn't seem to be in too much of a hurry to attend to the trouble-makers who were always occupying one or more of the beds. "It's going to be ok Lily, I promise," Zane said quietly before glancing over his shoulder to make sure that Madam Pomfrey was heading over. No such luck. He quickly kissed Lily on the forehead before darting off towards Madam Pomfrey's office. She of course noticed his mad dash, but was sufficiently preoccupied with a third year who had managed to transfigure himself into a cactus. Well, half a cactus. Human face, brain and the like, but with a plant pot instead of legs and very spiny ears. Zane searched the cupboards where he knew the hospital herbs were. Searching for something, like looking for a needle in a haystack. No that's not it, wrong shape leaves. Nope not that one. Oh she's coming, quick Zane find that herb! As the elderly witch reached the door, Zane found what he was looking for. Dittany in hand, he dodged the nurse and sprinted back to Lily's bed.
"I really don't think I'm her favourite visitor..." he said quietly in an attempt to make Lily smile. He began tearing up the herb, like he had been taught to do, before Madam Pomfrey bustled over and snatched the herb from his hands, muttering something about stupid seventh years not having an ounce of patience.
