Lying down on his back Aiden glanced up at the open tower where the stars blinked back in response to his gaze. He repositioned his legs following the owl that swooped dangerously close to his face. The talons nicked the side of his face creating a scratch that produced a trickle of blood down the side of his neck. Aiden wiped the blood frowning. Things like this wouldn't have happened if he was in his normal haunted. Lately he's been driven to the Owlery from past events at Bertha. A certain event that had to do with Tobie's heart tearing in two and his best friend falling dead at the foot of his favorite spot in Hogwarts. Not to mention Bertha tore at the body after Corliss disposed of it. Corliss. He hadn't talked to his friend since that night. Thoughts of Avery's blank and expression still haunted his dreams. Underneath the skin he mourned for the loss of Avery but couldn't out right show it. October had been through enough already. Aiden had to be a pillar for her to lean on otherwise together they'd crumble. Rubbing his temples Aiden sighed the tragedy consuming his thoughts. Corliss. He doubted they would ever talk again. So he sat in the dark watching the stars blink by, fighting with inner demons.

Run.
That was the first instinct that flashed into October's mind as she stood in the endless, pouring rain. The condensation seeped through her clothes, into her hair, invading her eyes and making them sting. There was no sanctuary for her; no place to hide. Lightning flashed, illuminating the sky with it's jagged glow. Finally as Tobie began lifting her feet in an effort to sprint down towards the Black Lake, another form caught her eye.
In the distance, she saw the Whomping Willow thrashing its branches, a loud roaring sound coming from the wind that laced in and around the ancient tree. October looked away, unable to imagine going back to that God foresaken, awful place. So she continued to follow her path across the slick and muddy ground, wanting to avoid Bertha at all costs.
Alas, after running for what seemed like hours, she realized that the Lake wasn't getting any closer. Frustrated, she dropped to the ground, while closing her eyes landing on her knees and feeling them seep into the mud around her. Screams began to echo in her mind, grinding in her skull and giving her a headache that only seemed to crescendo in pain. She grabbed her hair, pulling it and covering her face, begging the noise to stop. To just be quiet.
And then, just like that, her wish was granted.
But, however, one pain was replaced by another. Tobie opened her eyes, only to have her side meet with a huge branch of Bertha's, bowling her over. Her head hit the ground with a thud, and a hot, sticky liquid began to drip down around her eye. Opening them slowly, she was shocked to see Avery's blank, dead stare greeting her, looking as haunted and hollow as ever. The blue of his irises were no longer lit; but more like a candle that had been blown out.
"Avery..." she whimpered, before looking up suddenly and seeing a cloaked figure above her. She was puzzled as to who it could be until she saw Corliss pull her hood down, a smirk riding on her lips. Tobie opened her mouth to speak, but before she could utter a word a flash of green light came flying towards her and the shriek of Corliss's spell filled the air--
"Avada Kedavra!"
***
Tobie shot upright in bed, her heartbeat skyrocketing, bangs plastered to her forehead with sweat. She touched her face, patting every part of her body to make sure that she was still living. Suddenly the dormitory felt freezing cold, and she wrapped her blanket around herself, though her teeth still trembled and clattered against eachother. She had to get out of here. She glanced at Corliss's bed, two beds over from her own, feeling unsafe. For what reason she was not entirely sure; she knew Corliss would never kill her...
But then again, no one thought she would kill Avery or get pregnant, either.
Slowly getting out of bed, October pulled her long-sleeved pajama shirt over her head, leaving her in a ribbed tank top and her shorts. She then grabbed a green zip-up jacket, put her hair in a ponytail and walked down to the common room. The fire was no longer lit, and the area felt...cold. Foreign. Like she didn't belong.
She left quickly, wand in hand as she went through the winding corridors, up a flight of stairs and finally to a heavy door that she knew led to the Owlery. She opened it slowly, stepping inside and then closing it softly. Not noticing that the room was occupied, she ran to a corner and lowered herself to the ground, hugging her knees and sobbing into her arms. Nothing was right anymore. Her thoughts were clouded, her heart was broken into a million pieces. Death was such a terrible thing; her mother, Albus, Avery...it seemed that every person who she showed significant attachment to died. She didn't want anyone else to die. It just wasn't fair. Who would be next? Aiden? Rowen? Nikita? Kia? Corliss?
Corliss.
Tobie couldn't even utter the Malfoy's name without feeling like she needed to scrub her tounge. She would never feel close to Corliss again. Now that she knew what she was capable of. Now that she knew what she'd do to stay on good terms with Lottie. It was sickening.
However, Tobie continued to let out heartbreaking sobs, her shoulders trembling. She was so scared. So tired. So...so lost. It was like she was standing in an empty space with fog floating around her in all directions; she had no path to follow, she had nothing to be led to. She was just there; just something taking up space. She couldn't do anything about it because no one was there to rescue her. No one could rescue her from herself.

Bolting upright Aiden trained his eyes toward the doorway finding the silhouette familiar in shape. Tobie His lips formed around the word but to noise was produced. The sobs echoed in Aiden's ears jumbling around in his brain. Swiftly he stood rushing over to where Tobie sat pulling her into his arms. She trembled within them sobs breaking through the peaceful atmosphere. "Shh. Tobie, what's wrong?" Clutching October to his chest slowly he rocked her back and forth soothing her cries. "I'm here hon." At the moment he shoved his own fears aside and resided hers into focus. They broke his heart before he died after all. Dammit if October was going to blame herself for Avery's death he would do anything in his power to heal her wounds. Even if it meant ripping apart his own insecurities for a place for hers.

When feeling an embrace wrap around her body, Tobie nearly flung the person away. She didn't want to be touched...everything she touched was destroyed and taken away. But, she finally submitted to Aiden, burying her face in his neck and trying to control her sobs, sucking in air like she couldn't breathe. "Its--all--my--fault--I--could have--stopped--th-th-this!" she cried, unable to string the words together in her normally smooth and sly tone. Now her voice was cracking and chopping, and no words seeemed to describe what she was feeling. This utter regret...this ongoing pain that would never heal...
"I--don't--even want to--l-live--anymore!" she continued, gripping onto Aiden tightly. "I--can't--trust-any-o-o-one! I'm--afraid that one n-night that C-Corliss will kill me because Lo-Lottie will want me k-k-killed!"

At the moment she uttered her feelings Aiden sat pulling her into his lap cradling her as she sobbed. After a few moment of crying Aiden cleared his thoughts and put them into words. "Don't say that. You do want to live. Love, I promise to you nothing will happen to you. Or Rowen or me if I be damned okay." He paused gripping Tobie tighter in his arms his rocking her slower. "Trust me. Okay. That's all you have to do. I'm one person you can trust." Aiden placed a slim finger underneath her chin directing her gaze toward his face. "Trust yourself more than anyone." He leaned in for a peck on the lips but held on a bit longer. On a bitter sweet note he pulled back wiping the tears from her eyes. "The stars stay the same." The Slytherin pointed toward the sky testing a smile on October.

October sighed, listening to Aiden. That was all she could do, really. No amount of crying to appologizing or feelings of remorse could bring Avery back to them. Biting down hard on her bottom lip, she cuddled closer to him and tried to focus her thoughts of the present. In present time, Avery Bishop no longer existed. In present time, she was there, with Aiden, her boyfriend and best friend, in owlery looking up at the stars. In present time, tears were beginning to dry and wounds were beginning to heal.
All she had to do was stay in the present and leave the past behind. That chapter of her life was over; several characters, now, were seen in a new, refreshing light and now she was ready to begin to journal her adventures that started now. Closing her eyes, she excepted Aiden's kiss and returned it, slowly bringing her hands up to his hair and burying them within the dark brown locks.
"Indeed they are." Tobie responded in a whisper, blinking slowly and feeling her wet eyelashes tap gently against her skin. "I love you, Aiden Gabriel Irvine." she uttered, leaning in for another kiss, draping her arms around his neck. She lowered them both to the ground slowly, enjoying that passionate embrace while it lasted.

He smiled through the kiss enjoying the moments as they passed. Aiden broke the embrace to reply simply that he had mutual feelings. "I love you more, Miss. Hemingway." The words spewed out fitting the cracks in his bleeding heart completely. There was nothing more than that of which he could say. October had better believe it, for it was the most he could give. Aiden couldn't give Avery back his life, or certainty that everything would be just fine. Future was drawn from the pages written before them and Aiden could only try. I love you more. It was the only stable thing he could firmly believe in. He loved October Hemingway, and nothing could change that. Not the fault of Avery's death lying on both of their shoulders, or Corliss's actions in whole. The boy loved her, just as steady as the stars blinked back at them creating a never ending spark of hope. Enwrapping her into another steady kiss he felt the pleasant feeling rise to his cheeks distorting his senses.

Tobie's heart skipped a beat as Aiden replied to her statement; she had been slightly nervous about spilling those three fatal make-or-break words...but Aiden had just confirmed that they were reciprocated, which made the anxiety completely worth it. Although it was strange that they were snogging in the middle of the owlery...with all those eyes watching them...but nonetheless it was a very touching moment despite the circumstances. She didn't hesitate to bury her hands in his hair, nipping gently on his bottom lip.
Sure, she and Aiden had gone through long makeout sessions before...but none quite so intimate. Oh, she hated using that word...but what else could possibly wrap about her feelings so approriately? Her mind was throbbing with want, her heart pounding with need, and Aiden seemed to supply all of that for her. She wanted him, she needed him, she wouldn't be able to live without him. They were so intertwined together that they seemed to be connected.

The intensity in their slow kisses amplified creating a slight tension between the two Slytherins. He felt the spark of heat as she touched the back of his head entertwining her fingers in his locks. The passion that thrivied off of their touch shocked even Aiden himself. Guilt washed away as he wrentched his gazed to the stars. He pulled away slowly allowing their last kiss to fill his senses with the sweet taste of October, the warm taste of cinnamon melting into a soft vanilla. Aiden cradled her into the knook of his shoulder, closing his eyes. Breathing the scent of the damp night air he smiled. There he was, lying in the middle of the Owlery with his childhood friend, the love of his life lying next to him. Even after all the shit that had happened, Avery, Corliss, the NO, the DE, everything, he could still say he was the happiest in his life. It was like being drunk. She was intoxicating, and he couldn't get enough.

For those oh-so brief moments, the only sounds heard between the two Slytherins were the hushed and heavy sounds of their breathing, as well as soft, wet sounds of their lips breaking apart...and each touch was blindly intimate. When Aiden finally just began to hold her close, she felt exhausted, ready to go comatose. Finally she had a chance to catch her breath, her chest heaving. Never before had she felt so...so free. For that stretch of time only two people in the world existed. Only two hearts were beating, keeping in sync as they played the music of life.
But still, tears stung Tobie's eyes as the owlery grew quiet again. Sucking in a sob, October began to spill her feelings again. "I loved him, Aiden." she said. "I really did. And I betrayed him...in more ways then one..." voice trailing off, she sniffled and lifted her head to look at Aiden. "I don't know how I'll ever forgive myself." she sighed, going in for another bittersweet kiss; one that was flavored with passion and sorrow.
Slowly but surely, Tobie felt her itching fingers withdraw from Aiden's hair, trailing blindly down his chest until she found the hemline of his shirt. Pushing her hands underneath the soft cloth, she gently moved her arms up his back until she was able to hook her hands under his shoulders. Her lips strayed from his, making a path down across his jawline, to the side of his neck. In a quiet voice, she whispered a simple 'I love you,' into his ear, continuing to occupy the surrounding skin with gentle, loving kisses.

Her words came as a shock. Sure he realized that at one point October loved Avery, but it was a fist to the stomach and made him have to gather his thoughts together. He kissed her back as she kissed him, but held a slight reluctance. Aiden loved October, every inch of her, including her smell the dimples carved into her smile, her eyes, and most certainly how she made him feel whole. Even with all these factors in play, he didn't want to risk anything. And that included her piece of mind. He didn't want to allow his own instincts to take over unless October was certain. Stiffening as her slender hair trailed across his spine beneath his cotton shirt he paused, resting a hand on her hip to stop her. "Are you sure you love me October." Staring blankly into October's eyes he held his emotion within his intake of breath. The air became still as he awaited her reply.

Tobie swallowed when Aiden shoved his question in her face. Her eyes widened, brightening immeadiately from the dark brown that had been dominaating her irises to a pale blue. The coloring pieced together like a puzzle until her eye color had changed completely; a strange sight indeed. Suddenly a hurt, confused look dawned on her face and she tore her gaze away from Aiden. How could he ask such a thing? She swallowed hard, feeling her thhroat begin to sting and contract.
"How can you even ask that?" she asked coldly. "I thought I made that clear." she said. "Just because I loved Avery doesn't mean that I never loved you until his passing, Aiden." she muttered. "I've always loved you. Ever since we were little kids. You taught me how to ride a bike, how to climb a tree, how to conjure a Patronus charm..." er voice trailed off, memories playing as a slideshow in her mind. "This is the real thing. I promise."

"Then, I'm just being a fool." Testing a smile he gingerly pulled her top of his chest. His eyes glistered with a spray of tears that he forced inward. The seconds counted down slowly in his mind as Aiden enwrapped October in a long kiss allowing his emotion to be his guide. He pulled her tighter to his chest increasing the intensity and magnitude of their kissing. Cupping her cheek Aiden pulled away glancing at the woman before him. It was so much different from the little girl he once knew. Skipping rocks, tumbling near the creek, all these things were distant. A foggy memory of what he once knew. From a different person's point of view. He viewed these things as sweet memories, childish at that, but only memories. Then he saw them as adventures with his pal, bud. Now he sifted through the pictures revealing the girl he watched grow up, into the woman he loved now. How she was broken by her mother's death, how she didn't come out side for a long time. How he longed for her presences as he now longed for her touch.
