"No."
His words were a jumble as Nikita Snape gave him his order. An Order. Supposedly straight from the mouth of Charlotte. It was his "duty" his only whim to greatness or death. To complete what in the end would destroy him. Mentally, physically, emotionally. Anything and everything that tied Aiden together in what use to be neat wrapping paper. Eventually it started to tear at the seams, digging into his soul, his heart.
"I won't do it." The words danced around in his head pounding against the skull. She'll kill you then.
Avery.
His best friend. He watched die.
Corliss.
His best friend. He watched kill.
Noah.
Her love, who stood to protect her.
October...
His own love. Who was changing before him. As he was still squeezed in his little shell. That was about to suffocate him.
Or worse.
"Why me?"
Clutching is wand. No. His pathetic excuse for a wand, a fake stick that he barely ever attempted to use. It wasn't the same.
Nothing was the same. Not October, any of his so called friends, his mental state. And now, this.
This little stab in the back.
How ironic that Nikita Snape would be the one to deliver this great news. The one who tormented him for allowing Corliss to kill Avery. Wasn't it the same though? That he was now the one to do Charlotte's bidding, and yet in much shorter time. Staggering forward he simply spit aiming for Niki's face but from his uneasy swerving missed and hit a tree behind her. One sigh and a mumble later he kneaded his temples trying to make sense of the whole thing. Why would they want October gone?
She has done nothing! Except for changing houses where they assume all of a sudden she's good now. For changing friends the DE decided to "eliminate" her, through him.
It made him question things. More than he already did. Aiden Gabriel Irvine, could find a glimmer of who Aiden Gabriel really was or is. All he became was a product of suicidal feelings, depression, and drinking games. Which isn't where he wanted to stand. He wanted to feel strong. That steady sense of balance and joy that radiated from within had died. Along with any shred of self respect he had.
The rings around his eyes had deepened.

4 days.
Sleep was no longer present after the Yule Ball. Everything had blown up for him there. And here was his last gift, or present to the girl he fell terribly in love with.
The last thing she would ever see would be him.
How bittersweet it would be.
If it ever happened.
