"Well you seem as if you do," Zane said quietly, a small smile crossing his face. "Yes I know what you mean." A quick glance around the trophy room, it was almost deserted now, with only a few dawdlers pausing to stare at the occasional trophy. He looked back at Nikita, she had that expression on her face again, as if she was trying to read him like a book. Her next few words confirmed his thoughts. "What am I thinking?" He said as he looked straight into her eyes. "Nothing much really, but I'm guessing we're probably on the same page." The brown eyes searched the pale blue eyes waiting for the next question, that he knew was inevitable.

Nikita stared at the floor, having no idea what to say to Zane. "Well, Zane I think we are on the same page... praying that we wont get caught, trying to figure out eachother, and just basically thinking. Is that correct?" Finishing her sentence confidently, her eyes met Zane's once more. "Well, let's take this conversation to a different directon, shall we? I think we shall..." Niki cleared her throat out softly, and began to speak once more. "How about this... woman to man talk... if that's the right way to put it. Who do you like Mr.Zane? If you want you can ask me the same. I mean, we have to learn to trust eachother right? I think I already trust you, so it wont matter. Do you trust me Zane?" Nikita's questions were soft, and delicate. She knew she trusted Zane, but did her really trust her? She was so very eager to know the answer to her very own question.

"Yeah that's right," he nodded as she met his eyes again. He listened carefully just focusing on those pale blue eyes whilst Nikita spoke. As the question of who did he like sprung up, he just smiled. It was one of those questions he got asked frequently, mainly by those stupid stalker-girls. "Yes I trust you Niki," he said before pausing for a few seconds. "I don't really know to be quite honest. Well I used to like Zoey, you know Zoey Abercrombie. After the christmas party, well, yeah most people heard about that. I don't really think about it, I'm usually too preoccupied with the New Order or Quidditch or when my next detention is." It was an honest answer, he hadn't told her any lies, so it was truthful as well. "Okay then," he said, still looking into her eyes, "same question Miss Niki."

Nikita busted out laughing as she heard who Zane use to like. "I'm sorry... I just.. oh my gosh!" Niki's words were spoken in between gasps for air, and then it started again. She had her head in her hands, and she was laughing histerically. She was positive that she seemed rather odd right now, but oh well. She didn't really care. She lifted her head up and looked at Zane, once she had finally controlled herself. "Are you kidding me? Zoey Abercrombie? Oh. My. Gosh. Zane..." She acted like she was disappointed in his choice, and she shook her head. "You do realize that you could get so much better than THAT, right? Yes, in case you were wondering.. I hate that Zoey chick. She just irks me... She hates Corliss you know? I guess that's also a reason why I hate her." She looked into Zane's eyes laughter still showing deep in them.
"Who do I like you ask? Well, as you may know, I 'flirted' with Logan Kings. I also kissed that Craig Longbottom, but seriously? I never liked them... well, a little bit Craig, but he moved WAY too fast... not that I couldn't handle it or anything, I just didn't feel like it." Pausing for a second, she couldn't look at Zane anymore. She closed her eyes and words floated out of her mouth once more. "Okay, you have to swear not to laugh, nor hate me. Can you do that?" Not waiting for an answer, Nikita looked back at Zane, and continued slowly. "I like Scorpius Hypreion Malfoy. No... wait... I don't like him... I LOVE him. I don't know why though..." Her voice drifted off, as did her mind. She remembered Scorpius' soft face.

"Look after several glasses of firewhiskey everyone looks the same..." he said with a smile, "mind you, you don't seem the kind of person to get totally smashed at a Christmas Party. That's one of the downsides of being on a quidditch team, everyone tries to get the captain so off his face that he can't remember anything the next day." This memory made him laugh, joining in with Niki's sudden outburst. He listened carefully as Niki explained her reasons before saying, "well who would you suggest instead?" He smiled as he waited for Nikita to reveal her secret crush. Scorpius Hyperion Malofy. Zane couldn't help laughing, he raised his hands protecting his face, just in case a barrage of flying cushions magically headed his way. That's what had happened last time when he had laughed at Lily. "Look I didn't swear not to laugh," he said, just managing to get the words out before the laughter returned.

Nikita giggled, looking deep into Zane's eyes, feeling safe. She listened to his words then quickly replied. "Well, Zane... I would recommend Lily... or someone else..." Nikita trailed off not letting herself say the other person. She sighed, with the smile still on her face. Then she continued, "No, you didn't swear... but, I can't believed you laughed! My answer was better than your answer!!! You know that's true..."
Nikita let her voice fade, as she laughed quietly at Zane. Today was turning out to be a great day. She loved when that happened. Bad days, turning into great days. This thought pleased her just like everything else had in the past hours. She smiled widely at Zane, and waited for an answer.

"Lily? Yeah maybe but she doesn't like me in that way, we're just good friends, you know? And who'd be this someone else? Come on tell me, I'm entrigued." he said quietly managing to keep the laughter at bay for a short while. "Ok ok, I know it's true. Sorry" He said before the laughter returned once more. "Scorpius? So you go for handsome evil guys then? Is that your type?" He returned her smile with his signiture Zane smile, just waiting for her response, trying to predict what it might be. This was turning into a better day than he had expected, another one of the great things about Nikita, that seemed to happen, a lot.

Nikita shook her head at Zane, with a small smile on her face. She looked at him from the corner of her eye and couldn't help but laugh. She then layed her head on Zane's shoulder, still laughing quietly. "Well, I'm not so sure I can tell you that Zane. I don't know, if handsome evil guys are my type, no. I could also go for the handsome good guys." Nikita snickered, letting herself laugh again. "I suppose it just depends. And, about Lily... are you sure she just likes you as a friend? I mean, I see her look at you. It's not just a friend look, Zane. I can tell, she likes you. A lot." Nikita let her voice float off once more, and she sighed. She brought her head back up, and leaned it up against the wall. She turned her head to look at Zane, who seemed to be thinking. She waited patiently for him to respond.

"Oh okay, I guess I'll just have to be content with not knowing," he smiled as he said this. He looked down at her, still smiling, as he listened to what she had to say. "No we're just really good friends, who have a few things in common like crumpets, the New Order and Quidditch." He said quietly whilst thinking about Lily. Surely she doesn't feel that way? I would have seen it, wouldn't I? Or am I really blind? I've just always seen her as a really good friend. What is this "look" that everyone else is supposedly seeing? Oh I dunno..."Hmm," Zane said quietly whilst still looking at Nikita. "Maybe you're right, but hey let's not worry about that now," he looked to the opposite side of the room where the last few stragglers were exiting through the door. "Peace at last," he whispered.

A soft laugh came from Nikita's lips as she listened to Zane. "If you say so, Zane. You wait though, and then I can gloat in your face." Nikita spoke with a laugh hiding deep in her voice. She didn't let it out this time though. "So, Zane... I have a question. What did it feel like? You know, not having your mother... I mean I know what it's like not to know a parent, but I dunno for you. Did you ever WANT to know her? Or possibly to know about her? I mean, I was just wondering... you don't necessarily have to answer. I know how it feels to be asked about a dead parent. Weird, and somehow unnecsary." She ended her speech softly, staring into Zane's eyes with her head cocked to the side. Her eyes were curious, but soft. They weren't begging for an answer though. They were just curious.

Wandering around the castle while she was susposed to be preforming her Prefect duties was one of Miss Malfoy's specitalites. She never had a certain place she was headed, nor did she care about where she drifted to. All she did was think. More than needed she would enter the kitchen and have a dirk or two of some fine hot chocolate or other drinks of the warm varity. No, not every night did she endulge this pleasure, but more often than she would like to admit. This night was different though. She had recived a letter that morning from her father. He just wanted to let his daughter, for none of it was going to reach her brother, aobut the going ons of Malfoy Manor. The letter, which had no mention of her mother, had made her oddly home sick. For the first time in all six of her years at Hogwarts, Corliss wished she could journey back to cozy room at Malfoy Manor and stay through the rest of the year. No, she knew it would never happen, but she could wish. So, on that most odd night, Corliss found herself at the door of the Trophy room, listening to the conversation of her best frineds, Nikita Snape, and the Leader of the New Order, Mr. Zane Lestrange. Wondering what the hell Nikita was thinking, she held back the urge to barge in. She listened intently, hoping to catch any information the couple didn't want her to know. Hearing Zane inform Nikita that Lily Potter had no intention of liking him, she held in a laugh. Opening the door slowly, she made her way in, watching Zane. "I wouldn't be so sure she doesn't like you Zane." she said, her voice soft for the first time of being around Zane. She smiled softly. "No, I'm not here to hurt anyone. I'm here to help." she said to his confused and gaurded expression. She turned her gaze on Nikita. "Liking my elder brother, are you?" she teased, her eyes dancing in amusment. "Ah, I'd better tell him that." Her blue green eyes drifted back to Zane. "You like her. I can tell by the look on your face. I may be evil, but I do know alot about love. Trust me on that." she said, walking closer to him. She wondered for a moment what the meeting between the two unlikely companions was about, but thoguht it best to wait until she asked the meaning of in. Nikita would tell her soon enough. "She loves you. Her heart is breaking..." she whispered to the two others standing near her. She smiled at their looks. "Ok. She can't protect her mind, and Kia taught me some things.... Ok damn! I read her mind." she whispered, winking at her best friend. "All she thinks about is you."

"I dunno, I never really thought about it to be honest with you. As soon as I heard the tales from Narcissa, I was really glad that I never really knew her. All her ideals just fill me with hatred, I can't even believe we're related sometimes let alone Bellatrix is my mother..." his voice trailed off, thinking of what his life would be like if his parents were still alive, he shuddered at the thought. He looked away from Nikita as he heard Corliss' voice. "Here to help? Well maybe you're all turning over a new leaf," he laughed as he said this. He listened carefully as Corliss told her tale, "hmm". Ok so it wasn't a straight denial, but it wasn't confirmation either. "Kia taught you, I'm guessing she didn't offer for free, I'm intrigued, how much did it cost you for my sister to teach you? A few galleons? A dark secret?" He smiled at Corliss' last words, exchanging another look with Nikita.

Zane's voice was soft, which made Nikita very pleased. She hadn't wanted to make him angry with the question, and to her liking it did not disturb him. She wanted to smile at him, but she couldn't bring herself to. She was too scared it would make him feel as if she was happy about his answer. Which she wasn't. Yes, it was the answer shewas looking for, but it was also a very sad answer. She couldn't smile at the wrong time could she? Well, she could but I would find that rude, and offensive if someone had smiled at me while I talked about something so serious, and sad. So insted of smiling at the awaiting Zane, she just stared into his eyes. Her eyes were tipping on the very edge of being filled with sorrow, but luckily a voice that was very familiar, swept through the air and reached her before her the emotion of her eyes tipped over the edge.
Nikita's head snapped up as Corliss voice floated suddenly to her ears. She wanted to jump up from where she was sitting, but she knew that would only make matters worse. While her mind wreched for her to jump up, she was also forcing herself to stay on the bench. She suddenly softened though, as she saw the calm, and loving expression that was on Corliss' face. This was the expression that Corliss normally showed to Nikita. She smiled softly at Corliss, who had just winked at her. This madea soft laugh escape from her small lips. All of a sudden Nikita moved off of the bench, and headed to Corliss' side. She stood there, still smiling at Corliss. This act that was shown by Nikita did not make matters worse, even if there was a matter. It seemed by the look in Corliss' eye that there wasn't a matter, but she felt like there was a matter. She just couldn't put her finger on it at that particular moment.
