Lily looked around the crowded Common Room. It was surprising that it was so full at twelve. She shrugged she small shoulders. She was talking to Callie, her best friend, when some 'smart' person sent a spell across the room. Her head turned in time to see some unlucky person's teeth enlarge. 'Well, thanks to Fred and George...' she thought as the counter curses was said. When she turned her head back, her friend was no where to be seen. She laughed when she saw her across the room with some other guys. "Well Lily Potter, it seems that you have been ditched, yet again." she muttered under her breath. She looked around the room, looking for any of her other friends. She gave up the search rather quickly seeing as you could hardly seen anyone. She moved over to a empty chair, that was odd, that was by the fire. Sighing, Lily rested her head in her hands.

The portrait of the Fat Lady swung inwards and in walked Zane Lestrange. He was dressed in the usual Quidditch attire, complete with Firebolt in his right hand. It had been another late night quidditch practise for the young Lestrange until it had started thundering. With the danger of being struck by lightening high, he had abandoned his practise, however he had still managed to get soaking wet. The heavens had opened when he was heading back up to the castle. His hair was dripping as he placed the broomstick in the corner of the common room. Glancing round, he caught sight of Lily sat on her own. He sat down in the chair opposite her, ruffling his hair, which sent a small shower of droplets over the younger Gryffindor.
Lily was thinking about her life when she felt water hit her bare neck. She face shot up, anger in her eyes. She was ready to have a 'talk' with the unlucky person who had gotten the water on her. Lily removed her wand from her pocket as she raised her head. She grinned when she saw Zane, soaking wet, in the chair by her. She rubbed the water from her face as she laughed. "Well Zane, I see the storm has caused your 'practice' to end. I am ever so sorry." she laughed.

"Were you about to hex me then Lily?" he laughed as the girl rubbed the water from her face. "Yes I thought I'd rather come in here and toast some crumpets over the fire rather than get struck by lightening. But come on, admit it Lily, you'd love to be out there in the storm right now, getting soaked to the bone." He laughed again as he spotted a bolt of forked lightening out of the window. "See if I'd have still been out there, I would have burnt to a crisp. Crumpet?" He picked up the packet of crumpets from his secret stash, and put one on a toasting fork. The other Gryffindors knew well enough to leave the crumpets alone, or if they didn't they soon replaced them. With the crumpet browing nicely over the flames, he removed it from the toasting fork and placed it on a plate, offering it to Lily.
"Oh you know me too well Zane. If someone gets water on me, I will hex them." she said, smiling. Lily listened to him talk about rather eating crumpets than dying with a smile. "Zane, Zane, Zane. Of course I would not want to be out there soaking wet! But, if I had to be then I would." The rain was falling harder now. The thunder and lighting was still going on, stronger than before. She watched him making crumpets and offering her one. She smiled and took a bite. "Well, thank you." she said, taking another bite.

"I'll take care to remember that, that's something I wouldn't want to forget..." He put another crumpet on the toasting fork and holding it just above the flames so that it wouldn't get covered in sooty dust. "Maybe I should make that a new rule. All Gryffindor Chasers must practise in thunderstorms whilst the rest of the team toasts crumpets on the fire... He laughed once more before he spotted the stalker girls. The stalker girls were five Gryffindor girls that seemed to follow him everywhere, especially after a victory in Quidditch. Zane motioned to Lily so that she noticed the stalker girls, "do you think they will ever get the message?" he said quietly as the girls began to giggle.
Lily watched Zane fix more crumpets. "Well, that would not be fair to the other chasers now would it?" she laughed. She took the last bite of her crumpet as Zane motioned the 'stalker' girls. They were so annoying. "Well, I guess I could get the message through..... Just kidding Zane." she laughed smirking at the girls and shaking her head.

"You're so funny Lily, I was relying on you to be up for a bit of thunderstorm practise and to go over and bat-bogey hex those stalker girls. Although that would count as duelling in the common room and the prefects would probably pounce on you, which wouldn't be fun. Believe me, I've had the sixth year prefects telling me not to practise Quidditch so much. Honestly, you'd think they didn't care an inch about Quidditch..." He laughed again at the thought of the sixth years trying to tell him to stop sneaking out before they realised who he was. The looks on their faces were priceless. They were trying to tell the Leader of the New Order off for sneaking out at night. Ahh, good times.
Lily shifted in her seat. Looking at the stalker girls again. She smiled. "You know, I could go for hexing them, if you really want me to. I wouldn't mind getting detention for that. The looks on their faces would be priceless, you know." she said, waving at the Zane crazed girls. She laughed as they began giggling. "They sort of freak me out." she whispered. She laughed at his story of the prefects. "I really think they care, they just don't show it."

"On second thoughts, I think hexing them would be a bad idea. I'm not going to encourage you to do something which will definitely lead to detnetion. Anyway that might make them grow in numbers, and that's something I definitely don't want. But I see you have your own fan club," he motioned to the stairs where two third year boys were sat staring at Lily.
Lily frowned. She had been slightly wanting to curse the heck out of them. "Well, I think you might be right. But that doesn't mean I don't wanna." she said with a grin. She looked over to the stairs and laughed lightly. "Well, great! Looks like we have something in common." she said lightly. She looked up at the boys and smiled, which made them both freak out. She grinned at Zane. "I don't see why you think it is so bad. I think it is kinda cute."

"You just wait until they start following you around after Quidditch matches, sending you cards on Valentine's and asking you to the Summer Ball and then you will understand Lily. But yes, it does seem as though we have something in common." He ate the warm crumpet whilst putting another one on the toasting fork. The smell of hot crumpets filled the common room and the other students seemed to be planning a midnight raid on the kitchens. They think it will be difficult. It's not exactly a challenge, the house elves just hand you the food on the plate. Oh well let them have their fun...
Lily smiled. "Sure Zane. I don't think it will bother me that bad, but it might anger me at times." she said, watching Zane's stalkers glare at her. She laughed. "I think your girls are mad at me." she said laughing. Lily smiled at the planning Gryffindors.
"One they are not my girls and two they can be mad at you for all I care, just so long as they don't try to push you off the tower. Then I'd actually have to talk to them," a massive piece of forked lightening lit up the black sky, highlighting the dark forest at the far side of the grounds. The next and final crumpet had finished toasting, Zane held onto the toasting fork in one hand, whilst offering the final crumpet to Lily. "Admit it, you want the last crumpet, I can see it in your eyes," he laughed until he suddenly dropped the toasting fork. He shook his hand and looked at his palm, a toasting fork shape had been burnt into it, again. Yes, this wasn't the first time that Zane had burnt himself in the name of crumpets.
Lily looked at Zane, her face looking hurt. She placed a small hand on her heart. "Well now, that hurts my feeling Zaney." she laughed, the look vanishing before everyone's eyes. She looked at the girls one last time, giving them an evil smile that could very well have been a Slytherin's. She turned away from them. She watched Zane fix the final crumpet. She smiled as he offered it to her. "I would love to have it, but I think you should eat it." she said. As Zane dropped the fork and looked at his hand, Lily could do nothing but laugh. "Ah, very nice Zane. Very nice indeed. I think you can surely eat that crumpet now." she laughed.
