[Nikita Snape]

The paddling came easy to Nikita, for she had been down to the Boat House quite often, and it had become another one of her favorite places to be at night. She normally went to the place for comfort, and to gain peacefulness... but on this night it was different. She was trying something new. Something she had never tried before... something that no one had dared try before. Well, except for maybe Charlotte, but that was highly doubted. Her brain sped through different ways on how to do it, and how to persuade him into it. No, she wasn't out to harm Zane, but she wanted to be bonded with him more. It was an urge that she couldn't resist.

The soft swishing of the oar in the water was calming to hear, especially since Nikita was rather stressed out at that moment in time. As she neared the boat house, she looked around her, finally being able to see around her, with the dim help of the lanterns from the nearby boat house. There was a gentle, light fog floating just above the surface of the water, giving the night a creepy, feeling like out of a scary movie. The moon was high in the sky, indicating that it was about midnight. The stars speckled themselves randomly around the crescent moon, sparkling with delight.

Finally, Nikita stepped out of her boat, jumping onto the deck. She looked around her eyes spying Kia in a matter of seconds. She walked over to her casually, her eyes excited. "Doesn't it always seem that we are involved in this kind of stuff together? Like kidnapping Lilah... beating the shit out of Lou, and now this? Quite fun, if I do say so myself. Eh? But, personally, I would have to say this is very important to me, Kia. Let's not mess this up." She practically pleaded her best friend. She gave her a welcoming smile that she had forgotten, but quickly turned back around to wait for Zane to show.

[Zane Lestrange]

Zane was walking down the Grand Staircase, a small letter held tightly in his left hand/ It was this letter which had caused him to go wandering about at midnight. He was used to these secret meetings with Nikita, but they usually met at the Quidditch Pitch so that Zane could help her train. So why the boat house? Well that didn't really matter, it was just another place to meet after all. He quickly reached the lakeside after a swift jog down from the castle. He looked out on the fog just hovering above the water and then saw the reflection of the moon, causing him to look up and stare at its brilliance. He caught sight of the little boat, moored where Niki had said it would be. He swiftly paddled across the water, making fast progress toward the boat house. It was so quiet, so peaceful. Zane smiled to himself as he spotted the tiny oil lantern that illuminated the boat house. He quickly jumped onto the deck and walked swiftly inside, before coming to an abrupt halt.

"What are you doing here?" he said quietly. There was no question, that this was addressed to his sister.

[Kianthra Lestrange]

"Of course we are Niki, that's because we work together well as a team, Lottie recognised that," Kia said quietly, smiling as her friend appeared. "We won't mess this up, it's pretty simple." The girl stared up at the stars, something she often liked to do when she didn't have to worry about the DE, or fret over Tuck, Aiden and of course Rowen. She heard the lapping of water against wood, a tell tale sign that someone was approaching. "Looks like we've got company," she said quietly before turning to face the person who had just jumped onto the decking. Her brother Zane. "Well that wasn't a polite greeting was it, dearest brother? I'm here because Niki asked me to, as are you. Niki care to explain?" She turned to Niki as she said these last few words.

Nikita looked up at the sound of swishing, giving Kia a quick smile. She flashed her head back to Zane, seeing his eyes flare up at the sight of his sister. "Uhm... yeah, sure." She spurted, hoping he didn't think they were about to ambush him. She wouldn't do that to him... she just wouldn't. "Don't worry Zane we're not ambushing you. No one's getting hurt here okay?" She said giving him a reassuring look. She turned to look at Kia, and spoke to her gently, "Can you give us a minute Kia? I need to explain this to him... rationally. Oh, and please stay out of our heads... it's quite an unpleasant feeling if you know what I mean." She smiled gratefully at Kia, and began walking towards Zane.

Whispering to Zane in a hushed voice that only he could hear. Niki's eyes pleaded for him to agree with her, as she spoke softly, "Okay listen... I was thinking that you and I need to be more connected. I don't want to loose this new bond I have with you, so I was thinking we should make it stronger... do you know what I mean Zane?" She asked, hoping that he would let her explain fully about what she meant by 'making their bond stronger'. She sighed, happy that he had actually showed up, and hadn't bolted right when he saw Kia. "And, I need Kianthra to help make the bond stronger."

[Zane Lestrange]

"I didn't think you deserved one," he muttered to himself, seeing Kia's face change into a slight frown. Get out of my head he thought, but the slight pressure didn't disappear until Niki spoke to Kia. Zane relaxed slightly as he saw his sister walked away from them to the far corner of the boat house. He listened carefully to Niki's words, whilst still glancing to check on the whereabouts of his sister. He paused and said quietly, "but why did it have to be her? Sorry...go on"

[Nikita Snape]

Eying Zane with eminence precision, Niki cocked her head to the side, her eyebrows furrowing in response to his mind whirling question. She actually didn't know the answer to that one, which disturbed her with such prominence. Her eyes turned cold as she thought about this, but she still couldn't find an answer to why it had to be Kianthra. "Uhm... I actually don't know the answer to that question Zane... probably because she can keep a secret? Or even the fact that she can close her mind from Charlotte, and other Legilemens? Eh?" She asked, her voice showing her shock, as did her expression. Quickly, she decided that she must go on with her explaining about what she was going to do.

Her voice broke the awkward silence that had grown easily, "I was thinking that we are going to do a Unbreakable vow..." Lowering her voice to where only Zane could hear, even if he had to lean closer, she whispered the next sentences, "And after Kia leaves stay here, and I'm going to do something else. Trust me Zane... please." Her voice was begging. The Unbreakable vow wasn't the only thing that made her adrenaline fly in quick rushes. It was the other thing she was going to do. Kia knew nothing about the other thing, which hopefully she would never find out about, although she just might find out... if Niki told her.

[Zane Lestrange]

Zane just nodded. The fact that Niki didn't know why it had to be Kia, worried him a little. But that was nothing compared to his reaction to Niki's next few words. You what?!?! Make the Unbreakable vow...that isn't something you enter into lightly. You either finish it or die...I don't think I'm ready for that...too much stuff to do...and oh she's waiting for a response. All these thoughts happened in a fraction of a second whilst Zane's expression remained impassive. "I do trust you it's just..." his voice broke off, as his mind battled whether to stay and listen to Niki or run as fast as he could, swim if he had to anything to get away from the boathouse.

[Nikita Snape]

Cocking her head to the side as if she was confused, Niki looked deeply into Zane's eyes. Slowly she looked away from him, turning her head out towards the fog. She looked into it's depths hearing the soft crashes of waves against each other. This calmed her in a matter of seconds, giving her the time to search through her words, and use the nicest tone of voice she had... well at this moment at least. "Okay, look. This is important to me. I feel if I do these two things then I will be more respected. That's something I've been looking for my whole entire life. Respect. Sure, I have it... but I want more. With respect comes power. That's what I crave... what my father craved, and he got it. It's my turn now." Her voice was gentle, and exposing the real truth behind this... well almost that real truth... it wasn't the whole truth, to say the least. "I need to do this, Zane. Please."

[Zane Lestrange]

Zane stood there silently, not really knowing what to say. Even if he did, he doubted whether he would be able to find the right words to express himself. "I...erm..." he began, before trailing off mid-incoherent sentence. I just can't, I, I just can't. I don't have a good reason not to, but still, I, oh I don't know. I want her to be happy, I mean I could at least find out what the vow would be about and then decide. Yes that seems perfectly rational. "Okay," he said quietly, so quietly that no sooner the words were out of his mouth they had disappeared into the darkness.

[Nikita Snape]

A cheerful smile erupted on Niki's face as he said, 'Okay.' Her voice was in a hushed whisper, although it was naturally rushed, "Really? You'll do it? Thank you Zane!! THANK YOU! I love you sooo much!" No, she didn't mean these words to be taken as if she was in love with him, but she loved him as a friend. She was also very careful to keep her voice down to a minimum on the strength of it, that way Kia wouldn't be able to hear. Sure, she hated keeping one of the biggest secrets from her best friend... but well... she just couldn't help it. It had to be done.

Steering her mind in the right direction, she began to head back over towards Kia, knowing that Zane would follow. "Okay... can we do this Unbreakable Vow? I'm getting very anxious... in case you couldn't tell." She gave Kia a smile before talking to her directly, "Thanks Kia... for doing this for me, even though it involves Zane. It means a lot to me... although I don't know why..." Shrugging to herself, she continued earnestly, "Kia will be doing the bonding for us Zane. That's okay right?" She asked Zane, knowing that if he said no, Kia would still be the bounder in the Vow.

[Kianthra Lestrange]

Kia slowly walked back to join her best friend and her brother. "Yes well that's what friends are for," Kia said with a smile to Niki, totally ignoring the fact that Zane was standing just a few feet away. She only looked at her brother when he muttered the word, "no", so quietly even she had trouble hearing it. "Well you'll just have to put up with it, now can we get on with this?" she said, getting slightly frustrated at the amount of time they had already wasted, when she could have been in the common room, snuggled up on the sofa. But no, she was here, in the freezing cold boathouse, waiting for her brother to make up his bloody mind.

[Nikita Snape]

Nikita turned her head to look at Kia, also getting slightly irritated. "Yes, we can... but excuse me Kia for interrupting the time you could be spending with Hemingway." She hissed the last word with as much venom as she could evict out of her lips. "You know I don't like that guy Kia. He irks me... a lot. There's just something... something about him. I have the slightest hint he is hiding something, and I don't like it. Not one bit. Especially if you're hanging around him. It frightens me slightly. Like he might hurt you... or... worse. That he might change you." She spat out the last word, eying her mightily. No... she wasn't trying to pick a fight here, but she was quite furious that Kia had went behind her back, falling for that... thing. She could have at least told Niki... but no, she just had to find out the hard way. Yes, Niki kept things from Kia, but who knows... that just might be over pretty soon. But, I'm not talking about the friendship with Zane. I'm talking about the lying to Kia. The secret keeping. Turning her back from Kia, signaling that she was done talking about that, she cleared her voice trying to do away with her low hiss. "Let's begin, shall we?"

[Zane Lestrange]

Zane remained impassive during Nikita's mini rant about a certain Rowen Hemingway. He was glad she was looking at Kia, because his face might have given it away that he knew something about Rowen that they didn't. Such a bad liar. He tried not to think about it in case Kia tried to break into his mind once more. He focused his thoughts on flying and managed to get rid of the sheepish look that had been plastered across his face, a few seconds before Niki turned back to face him. "Ok," he said quietly, still trying to avoid eye contact.

[Kianthra Lestrange]

A small smile came to Kia's lips as Niki mention Rowen, but it vanished as soon as it had arrived. "I know you don't like him Niki, and I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but can we discuss this some other time, when my brother isn't within earshot?" she whispered, making sure to keep eye contact with her best friend. As soon as Niki had suggested that they begin, Kia was at Zane's side, giving him a small push forward as he looked as though he was about to swim for it. "There's no backing out now," she whispered, as she retrieved her wand from her pocket, waiting for Niki to grasp Zane's hand.

[Nikita Snape]

Turning her head back to look at Kia, she gave her a tender smile in return to her response. "Of course we can, Kia. I forgive you too... I don't hold grudges... well actually I guess that depends on who it's about... oh well." She smirked, snapping her head back to Zane. She watched with cold eyes, as Kia pushed Zane forward. She forced herself to nod, even though it was a rather tight nod. She shrugged it off, ready to focus on nothing but the vow. She grabbed Zane's forearm tightly, feeling his grip tighten also. She closed her eyes tightly, feeling the slow haunted feeling wash over her. When she opened her eyes once more, she locked them with Zane's eyes.

Nikita sighed deeply, not taking her eyes from Zane's. "Let's get this over shall we?" She asked, mainly talking to herself. Her mind swam with thoughts about this, and it began to freak her out too. She could tell it was freaking Zane out too, a feeling of fright escaping the pupil of her eyes, Zane's pupil mirroring it quickly. Her jaw clenched, and she swallowed the lump in her throat. From her side vision she saw Kia begin to draw her wand to their hands. That's when Niki almost lost it. She would be bound for life. Well, that's at least what she thought. She didn't that there was a counter curse for the Unbreakable Vow. She doubted it with all her heart, and mind.
