Avery's dark blue eyes searched the lake, that was almost the exact same color as his eyes. The lake was probably a little darker though, and his eyes were probably more amazing. He loved to come out to the Black Lake, and just listen to the waves crash against each other. He would close his eyes, and let the soft sound echo in his mind, and take him places. It was like daydreaming for him, and he typically enjoyed daydreaming. He also liked the smell of the salty Lake water. It was strong, but not too strong to make him feel uncomfortable.

Avery could also feel the temperature of the icy cold water. Sometimes he enjoyed the icy feeling of it, other times he shunned from it. On this particular night he enjoyed it. He wanted to go take a swim, but he didn't feel like jumping in at that particular moment. He would later on that night. His eyes suddenly flung open searching the midnight sky. As expected, it was pitched black, with the millions of silver stars hanging in it. Then there was the beautiful moon. It was a golden color, and luckily it was a full moon. Full moons were Avery's favorite, and he enjoyed looking at them. It made him feel more comfortable.

Avery looked back out into the depth of the night, and closed his eyes once more. It was so peaceful out here, and he enjoyed that very much. His peacefulness was suddenly gone though, as he heard the slight crack of a branch under someone's foot. He heard the small voice swear, and he immediately laughed. It was Tobie. He had grown very found of her, and was very happy when he turned around to look at the beautiful girl standing in front of him. He gave her a welcoming smile, and walked towards her, carefully.

Who knew sneaking out was so damn hard?

October was carefully making her way around the trees that flanked the Black Lake, pausing every couple of minutes to listen for voices of Professors that may have caught wind of her little idea of leaving the common room past curfew. Luckily no such event had occured, though she couldn't help but be a little cautious. The only flaw in her perfect footing had been the stupid dry branch under her right foot. It snapped clean in half with an audible 'crack' and she balled her hands into fists.

"Merlin's green earth!" she swore, scowling at the ground. OH, she hated nature so much sometimes...After trying to regain her cool demeanor, she looked up and visible jumped when she saw Avery Bishop in front of her. She touched her chest lightly, feeling her skyrocketing heartbeat. "My Lord, Avery! You gave me a fright!" Tobie laughed, continuing to take long strides towards her housemate. Draping her arms aruond his neck casually, she smirked at him. "And what are you doing out so late?" she asked.

Avery laughed hysterically as he heard the words that sped quickly out of Tobie's mouth. "I gave you a fright?" He paused to finish laughing, but continued once more, "That's hilarious. I love your choice of words, Tobie." He swung his arm over her shoulder, in response to her arm around him. He smiled, as he looked down at her flawless face. "Well, I actually enjoy hearing, smelling, and feeling the lake. If that makes any sense what-so-ever. Now it's my turn to ask you the exact same question. What are you doing out her Tobie?" His dark blue eyes searched into her's, and he smiled once more, feeling peaceful again.

Not waiting for an answer, he bent down and swung his other arm under her legs, lifting her up off of the sandy ground. He did this whole movement, quickly, and in a split second. She was immdiately in Avery's arms, as he peared down at her with warm eyes. He laughed as he heard the soft thud of her flip flops falling off her feet, and hitting the ground softly. "What shall we do Tobie? Go for a late night swim?" He felt her shriek under his arms. 'It seems like she doesn't want to go for a swim... hurmm... well, there's no harm in throwing her in the lake...' Avery thought to his self, calmly. "You know, I'm thinking you want to go in the Lake, am I correct?" Avery took another step toward the Lake, acting as if he was about to throw Tobie into it's depth.

October narrowed her eyes jokingly at Avery as he mocked her diction. "Excusez-moi, Monsieur L'évêque, je n'a pas su que vous étiez contre le choix approprié de mot!" she snapped in French. Her grandmother had been teaching her to foreign language ever since she entered Hogwarts and she enjoyed using it to insult students who were ignorant to it. She giggled when Avery swooped her up like a groom would do to his bride; he always enjoyed showing off in front of all the girls. It was probably some ego thing. Either way, sometimes it was annoying, other times...oddly charming.

She kicked off her navy-colored flip flops careelssly, swinging her head back so her long hair hung down. She loved spending time with Ave, it was always so fun and carefree. However, at his suggestion of a swim, she felt herself become alarmed as she shook her head. She couldn't swim at all; kind of silly seeing as Rowen was so athletic and such but she never did learn. She never saw the point. "No!" she begged, sticking out her bottom lip. As he took another step, she feld onto Avery twice as tightly, burying her face in the crook between his shoulder and his neck. "Dont..."

Avery laughed softly, as he stared at the begging Tobie, whom was now clinging to him rather tightly. "Whoa, you've got a tight grip, babe." Avery hadn't meant to call her babe, it had just kinda slipped out. He had always thought of Tobie in that girlfriend kind of way, but he was too frightened to admit it. Yes, laugh it up. Avery was frightened. He didn't want to jack up what they already had. So, he just acted like he didn't realize his last word had been spoken. He just let himself drop to the ground, with Tobie still in his arms.

Avery layed Tobie down the second his back touched the sandy ground. He then leaned over her, blocking her view of the beautiful sky. He pushed a few pieces of hair out of her eyes, and looked at her deep in the eyes, with a soft, amazing smile spread on his face. His eyes twinkled with delight, as he continued smiling, and then his lips suddenly moved. "Oh, Tobie... did you really think I was going to throw you into that icy cold water? I wouldn't do that to you. You mean way too much to... nevermind." Avery stopped himself suddenly, throwing himself back onto the ground. He looked up at the sky with Tobie laying silently next to him. He immediately knew that he had said something wrong. He knew what it was too, but he didn't quite want to admit it.

October didn't pay Avery any mind; she didn't care if he called her babe or any other pet name. As long as he didn't call her anything stupid she wouldn't mind. Feeling immense relief wash over her as the threat of drowning decreased, she then felt relaxed and rested against Avery as he lowered to the sandy ground. She smiled lightly, running her hand through the sand and feeling the grains slip through her thin fingers. When her father brought all of his children to the beach, Tobie's favorite part had always been making sand angels and constructing sand fotresses. Though those days of imagination were long-gone, small things like this brought back all of those memories.

Tobie then felt a twinge of nervousness as Avery leant over her, and she felt herself turn into his touch. Sure, she didn't like when people messed with her hair but just the small intimate contact between herself and her housemate wasn't enough to make her cross. As he spoke, a jagged frown appeared on her lips. "Well of course I did!" she growled, eyes glowing lividly. "I can't swim, y'know, and--" she paused in her angry statement when she heard Avery's cutoff. "It's not a crime to care about someone, you know." she murmured, leaning up and using her elbows to prop herself. She was daringly close to Avery now, faces only a few centimeters apart. "Sometimes you just need to let feelings be known..."

"Some things are better left unsaid, Tobie."Avery didn't want to speak these words to the girl whose face was now extremely close to his. But, he felt he had nothing better to say. Yes, he could have told her how he really felt about her, but how? How would that leave things? Would they end up together, or would she run off, leaving Avery behind in the dust? He wouldn't let himself speak the words he so desperately wanted to speak. "I wouldn't have thrown you in, trust me. I mean I was thinking about it, but there was no way I would mess up your beauty." He laughed as he finished, his hand gripping Tobie's face.

He smiled at her once more, before cocking his head to the side. "You never answered my question! What are you doing out here, this late at night Tobie?" He sighed as he remembered asking her the question at the beginning of seeing each other. She had never answered him, but you have to put into consideration that Tobie thought she was about to be thrown into the icy depth of the Black lake. He laughed remembering how hysterical she had been about it. "Wait, you can't swim?" He remembered once more her saying she couldn't swim. "Oh, wow."

Some things are better left unsaid.
She heard he father say that a lot when she asked why he was so sad after her mother died; he was only trying to protect his daughter. A light frown formed on her face as she looked into Avery's eyes. She looked down, biting her lip. She wanted to tell him everything, but held her tongue. Sometimes you just had to let things go. Tobie knew she couldn't win all the time, and this was just one of those lost battles. No need to beat a dead horse. At his sarcastic remark she laughed, rolling her eyes. "Oh yes, beauty indeed..." she snickered, closing her eyes as she felt his hand tough her face again. She allowed her forehead to rest against his, feeling the warmth of his breath as he spoke.

"I just came out here to think, s'all." she murmured. Yeah, she had come out here to do some serious thinking. About Avery, actually, which made this whole situation highly ironic. She was debating whether or not to tell him this, like a civil war of heart and mind. Usually the two never defied eachother; Tobie always loved what she wanted, and always wanted what she loved...but she never really felt confliction.

"Uh, no duh I can't swim, you bonehead!" Tobie said, laughing. Way to go, smart one. I guess there's a reason you're not in Ravenclaw." she teased, feeling her arms drift around Avery's neck again as she pushed him backwards until he rested on the sand. She now was in control, hovering over him while their bodies touched.

A laugh filled the midnight air, as Avery heard Tobie speak. "You're just so funny aren't you!" His voice was calm, and even, well until he felt Tobie's forehead rest against his. He couldn't speak anymore, even as much as he tried. Finally he heard her voice once more, which calmed him again. "Think about what? May I ask?" This time his voice was a little on the edge of falling off of a cliff, so he probably sounded a little weak, if that's even possible for Avery to sound weak. Then he heard her voice once more, and he let his mouth drop in a offensed way. "RUDE!" He yelled, at her playfully. He then felt her push him back, and he fell to the ground, feeling sad. His confidence then boosted back up again as she hovered over him. "You know something Tobie? You're really pushing it. Just thought you might want to know." He let his voice drown out as he looked her in the eyes once more.

A soft sigh escaped from Avery's chest, as he lay on the ground looking at the beauty who was laying on him. He figured that he should come clean, because he simply couldn't stand it anymore. He wanted Tobie more than anything, and he wasn't going to hold it in any longer. "Tobie? Can we talk?" His voice was shaky as he asked this question, but he softly continued. "I think I might have feelings for you. I was too 'scared' to tell you before, but I couldn't hold it in any longer. I might be in love with you Tobster. Please, don't make this difficult for me." He sighed, as he felt the enormous weight lift off of his shoulders. His eyes searched deep within Tobie's as he waited for her reply, hoping it was the one he was waiting for.

Tobie laughed loudly as Avery said she was rude. Well, of course she was! What kind of Slytherin would she be if she didn't make fun of others, even those in her own house? Running a hand through her hair, she simply smiled at Avery before responding, "Have you ever known me to be gentle?" she asked jokingly, itching to move her legs so she could lay on top of him. It may have seemed weird, though, so she retrained herself and merely nodded when Avery asked to talk. Oh, great...she had done something wrong. She knew that three-word question very well, and it always was said right before a breakup or a scolding or something of that nature. She bit her lip, looking worried before listening to Avery talk. Oh, what was he going to say? What would she do? Great Merlin...

And then he said it. Her blood ran cold, and she swore she had grown several shades paler. Really? Had Avery just said that?! Well, obviously, she had heard it with her own two ears but still...Holding her breath, the tiniest of smiles resurfaced on her expression. "Ave, babe, I..." she paused. "I came down here to think about you. About us. I mean...I've wanted to tell you this for a long time...but I like you. More than a friend...I..." she paused again. "But you were dating Corliss and I didn't want to make things complicated." she sighed, running her hand down Avery's cheek. "But I always thought actions spoke louder than words," she murmured, leaning in and kissing Avery gently and innocently before withdrawing, giving him a fond look.

Butterflies erupted in Avery's stomach as he listened softly to Tobie's words. He was about to speak when he saw her lean in, and kiss him lightly. Everything fell into place right then and there, and he didn't think he could be happier. Everything was perfect! The day was perfect, and the girl was perfect. She was amazing, and he didn't know what to think about all of this. He had no idea what to say as she pulled away from him. Then he laughed, out of no where. "You're so beautiful. But, why would you not want to make things complicated? That's what most Slytherins do... well, most Slytherins as in Nikita. I see your delima though. You didn't want to hurt Corliss, or hurt anyone else for that matter. It was kinda the same thing for me, except a little different." He stopped speaking, and wrapped his arms around her. He pulled her down, and she was now suddenly laying on top of him. He smiled at her, and then pressed his lips against hers, softly.

Avery pulled away from the kiss, and pushed her (SOFTLY!) off of him. He laid her down gently on the sand, facing him. He caressed her face softly, cupping her chin. He pecked her on the lips, and then looked at her deeply in the eyes. "This feels so right, doesn't it? I think it does anyways. Good thing I was brave enough to tell you how I felt." Avery said, obviously proud of himself. "I know... I know... you're jealous. You want to have my courage, and braveness. It's okay Tobie, you are special in your very own way. Which is why your gonna be my girlfriend. Well, that is if you'll have me?" Avery asked Tobie in a whisper, but the buried his face into her neck, acting kiddish. He laughed, and then looked up at her face, sheepishly. He waited for an answer, while he stroked her flawless skin.

Oh boy, oh boy. October was at an ultimate high; she never felt so good in her entire life. Avery was an amazing guy, and she noe had him in her grasp, wrapped around her finger...kind of a sadistic way to look at things, but it was the way she thought. And then Ave went on to compliment her, telling her that she was beautiful and such. Sure, many boys had told her that before, but none with such sincerity. "I'm not like Nikita. I love her to death, but we're very different people." she uttered, allowing herself to submit to his touch, resting her head on his head. The steady rise-fall motion relaxed her immensely. Then he locked her into a kiss (a bloody good kiss) and she couldn't help but let out a little sigh of contentment.

She laughed as he nudged her off, and she rolled onto the sand. "Oh yes, Mr. Bishop, I am so jealous of your bravery, y'big Gryffindor." she teased, winking at him. After his asked his question, a blush rose to her cheeks. "Well of course I'll have you..." she murmured. "Even though you're a big arrogant twit sometimes." she teased, flicking his nose lightly. "Mm, but do you think Corliss will be upset if she finds out?" she asked, biting her lip. After a few moments she stood up, looking at the Lake with a smirk. Pulling off her teeshirt and jeans so she was in in pink bra and panties, she walked into the lake until she was up to her neck. "Holy hell is it cold in here!" she squealed. "So...you coming in?"

Laughing hysterically, Avery pulled his dark t-shirt off of his body. He swung it around in the air like it was a rope. While doing this action he yelled, "Yeah, baby! Take it off! Take it ALL off! WOO HOO!" He hopped up watching as Tobie walked deeper and deeper into the water. During this time he un-buttoned his jeans, and was left in his boxers. No, Avery doesn't wear tighty wighties. He prefers boxer instead. "Holy shizznet it's cold out here! Yes, I'm coming in Tobster, did you really think I would let you swim, half naked might I add, alone? I don't think so!" He yelled, as he ran towards his new girlfriend, tackling her into the depth of the Black Lake.

Avery had his arms around Tobie, as they floated underneath the surface of the Lake. Kicking their legs softly to stay up, Avery kissed Tobie softly. He opened his eyes inder the water, and felt the salt sting them. He didn't close them though, he kept looking at Tobie. Then all of a sudden, he saw Tobie begin to gasp for air. He began kicking his feet hard, pulling his girl along with him. He pushed her in front of him, and her head broke the icy surface, allowing her to breath once more. Then his head also broke the icy surface. He looked at her, still smiling and spoke in an even voice. "Now, I could have sworn you said you could''t swim, but you were holding yourself up down there. Well, until I grabbed a hold of you."Avery laughed as he spoke, but then suddenly locked her in another soft kiss.

It's just water. It's only water. Water can't hurt you unless you let it, Tobie...

October was trying her absolute hardest not to freak out while in the lake; even though it was quite frightening to her, she had to suck it up and face her fears, otherwise she'd never get over this. She blushed when Avery came in after her, pulling her deeper into the abyss of the water. She didn't dare open her eyes, frightened of what might be lurking around her. After a few moments though, she felt dizzy and her need for air grew with each passing millisecond. Opening her eyes in alarm, she couldn't even tell up from down. She felt herself begin to flail under the water, unable to pull herself up because of Avery's body weight.

Oh no, this is it. I'm going to die. Great. I'm such an idiot; why did I even try to swim?

But, as always, Avery came to her rescue. Feeling a gentle push from him, she felt the momentum to go up and soon her head broke the surface. Inhaling deeply and clinging onto Avery as he came up to join her, Tobie began to shake violently from fear and cold, but fear was the most prominent feeling. She kissed Avery back, however this time she pulled away out of hesitation.

"Avery...I'm going back to the common room." she said quietly, breaking away from him and heading back to shore wher she slipped her clothes on. She really hated the feeling of her jeans and shirt clinging to her, but she didn't have a choice; she had to put them back on obviously. Wringing out her hair, she hugged her arms to her body as she slipped her flipflops on and headed back for the castle. "Maybe I'll talk to you tomorrow," she uttered, continuing to walk back towards the castle.

Avery's head went fuzzy, as he felt Tobie break away from him, and head to the shore. "Umm, what?" He asked, mainly to himself. He tore after her, and reached the shore right when she put her clothes back on. "Tobie? What's wrong?" He grabbed her arm puling her back to him, and hugged her tightly. His eye brows pulled together, and he pressed his lips softly on her forehead. "Baby, what's wrong? Please, tell me..." You could almost feel the worry in his voice, as he tried to speak calmly to his girlfriend. "Did I do something wrong?" He said once more, putting her at arms length. He looked deeply into her eyes, and he could feel the butterflies in his stomach. They weren't good butterflies though, they were bad ones. Like he was nervous, that he was about to loose Tobie. he had just gotten her for Christ's sake! She couldn't be mad at him already, could she? Avery's heart was close to breaking, as he watched Tobie's eyes glaze over with tears.
