Corliss sat on the long black couch, looking into the brightly burning fire. The fire popped loudly, breaking the logs. On the pretty girl's face, a soft smile could faintly be seen, which was rare for her. Corliss move a stray hair from her cheek without moving her eyes from the fire. In her mind, a plan was brewing. Her mind racing about this one thing. She tapped her slender fingers on the arm of the couch. She broke the contact with the fire for a split second, as a sneeze erupted form her nose. She laughed and returned to the fire. It was getting late, wasn't it? A few stray people were still sitting around, studying frantically probably. Corliss crossed her legs on the couch, still stressing about her plans. Most of them revolved around the DE. Slowly, the girl felt dizziness wash over her. She thought it best to rest for a second. She lay down and rested her head on a green pillow, slowly her eyes closed.
Avery walked into the Common Room, and saw Corliss falling into a deep sleep on the couch. He looked around to see how many people were in there. Not very many. Most were asleep, well suppose to be for that matter. Avery walked over to the chair closest to the fire and sat down. He stared into the glowing heat. It felt good on his freezing toes. He had been outside and it was very cold. Avery rubbed his eyes and looked around the Common Room once more.

Corliss stirred in her sleep. Someone had entered the Common Room and she wanted to know who. The girl fought to open her eyes, but they felt like they were a hundred pounds each. She took a deep, rattling breath. The Slytherin was thinking about just resting, not fighting to wake up, but then the nightmares began. Horrible. People, witches and wizards to be exact, using muggle weapons to kill one another. There she stood, clinging to Scorpius, begging him to protect her, when he was shot. She cried out in her sleep. Up walked Cromz, a first year Corliss had picked on. She held up the weapon and..... Corliss shot up, gasping for breath. She looked around, everyone was sleeping execpt for one. Avery sat on the chair near her. She looked away. "Why are you down here Avery?" she questioned, tears welling up in her eyes. How could she have let someone see her when she was weak?
Avery listened to Corliss's soft even breathing. Then it began to harden and quicken. He watched her curious, but also concerned. She was probably having a nightmare. He watched her thrash in her sleep and then she cried out... possibly for help. All of a sudden she shot up and looked at Avery questioning him about why he was here. "I just came in...ummm did I bother you?" Avery watched Corliss pant. He wanted to walk over to her and ask her what had happened...ask her if she was okay. He couldn't resist. It was as if someone/something was pulling him towards her...to comfort her. He stood up and walked over to her. He sat down by her feet. He looked at her, and took in a deep breath. "Corliss? Are you okay? What happened?" He questioned her carefully, and caringly. He stared into her eyes...his eyes sparkling. They almost looked black in the darkness.

Corliss dried her tears quickly as she heard Avery speak. She knew she would have to tell someone sometime. This was not the time though. Corliss gave a sharp nod. "No, I was just, well, surprised to see you, thats all. Sorry." she said scratching her neck as she turned to see him walking to the couch. As he sat down, Corliss sighed. "Well, its nothing really. I am fine. Everything is OK. It all good." she lied perfectly, as if she was just telling the truth. She gave a weak smile and looked into his dark eyes.
Avery stared back into her eyes. He didn't fully believe her, but he really didn't have any choice. He wasn't going to argue with Corliss. He didn't want to for that matter. "Okay, good." He smiled at her and continued talking, "By surprised...is that a good surprise or a bad surprise?" he questioned her curiously. He chuckled, and then almost fell into another trance, staring into her eyes.
Corliss could see the doubt of her words in Avery's eyes. She made a mental note to try and not lie when she was half asleep. Her blue-green eyes locked with his as he began to speak. "Well, what do you thing? Of course it was a good surprise. You scared the hell out of me in the process though." she breathed, trying not to be too loud. She didn't want any unwanted eavesdroppers. Corliss eyed the boy's hand, having a mental debate on whether or not to move closer. 'I'll let him make the first move.' she finally decided.
Avery looked at her, and couldn't stop himself from laughing. "Well that's good. I don't want to be not wanted, now do I?" He smiled a big smile, and his eyes shined from the fire. "You looked stressed..." Avery began saying to her, "I'll change that." He finished positively.
He got up and walked to the other end of the couch, where Corliss was sitting. She was sitting up so he could easily fit behind her. He pressed his hands to her back and started massaging it. He started with her shoulders and went down. he smiled as he messaged her.
Corliss laughed her charming laugh. It fooled most of the first years she tried to bring into the DE. It most always worked to her advantage. "Of course you want to be wanted. The best part is when someone wants you to be there too." she said with a grin. "Do I look stressed? Oh well. Who knows what stressed me out this time." she said as he moved behind her. Corliss felt his big hands on her shoulders. She felt the warmth of his hands moving down her back. She was lost of all words, not being able to think straight with Avery so close to her.
Avery noticed her stop talking. He wondered why. Avery leaned forward, and his chin floated above her shoulder. "Does that feel good?" Avery asked her soothingly, and romantically. He didn't move his chin, he just waited for an answer. Hopefully it was the answer he wanted. He took in a breath, and her sweet scent filled his nostrils. He felt all fuzzy inside, and he wanted to smell her even more.
Corliss was brought back to Earth when she heard Avery's soft voice. She had to blink several times as his scent closed around her. Finally she found her voice. "Yes.... Yes it does." she whispered.
Avery turned his head towards her cheek. His perfect nose almost touching her smooth cheek. He could barely move. It was as if a force had pinned him down, right next to her. Avery breathed her scent in again. "Good." He was barely able to say, as her scent paralyzed his voice. Avery's head didn't move at all. His hands moved in a circular rotation on her shoulders though. He was still messaging her...relaxing her.

The girl smiled weakly, moving to the side. 'If Scorpius comes down, all hell will break loose.' she thought. She moved forward, turning her back away from Avery. "Um, well......" she said, taking a deep breath. She smiled softly.
Avery felt her break away from him, and he knew the reason. He brother, Scorpius. His hands departed from her back, and he sighed. He leaned back on the arm rest, thinking about her scent. "Well...what?" He questioned her calmly.

The small girl looked around the room. She rubbed her sleepy eyes. That is when it hit her. 'Oh my god! I am with the guy of my dreams, and I am not wearing any makeup!' She ran a hand through her soft, blond hair, cursing herself for being so stupid. "You know what would happen if anyone saw that. Well, really if he saw that." she said in a small voice.
