James scowled "I didn't until he started dating my sister. Also until he was really rude to me at the ball." He took a few deep breaths to calm himself. It really didn't help that they all had horrid tempers in that room.
Ted sighed and shook his head. "One, you can't hate someone for dating Lily. What, you want her to be alone for the rest of her life? Seriously James, what if you hated Rosie? Like, say she wasn't your cousin, and I was more like Lily. Do you want to deprive me of my happiness, with the girl I love, just because she's dating me? What if the roles were reversed, how would you feel to be torn away from this amazing girl just because Lily thinks your too young? This probably isn't making much sense to you, but do you get it? She's gotta grow up sometime, and now seems like the perfect time to do it." Ted said, realizing his speech was a little rickety, but hoped James got the picture. "And two, I wasn't there when Lysander was 'mean' to you, but I'm sure you didn't help that situation get any better. Maybe even caused him to get mad at you?" Ted asked with his eyebrow arched. He knew how James could be sometimes, but he really needed to let Lily grow up.

James glared at Teddy "He was getting close to Corliss and I just asked where my sister was and he snapped saying that we had all gotten sick of him." He scowled and said "I know my sister is growing up but that does not give her the right go go around dating people in public. And I can hate someone because they are dating her, you did with every guy that Rosie dated." He really felt angry at the both of them now.
And that was it. That's all the fuel Teddy needed. He saw red, well atleast he thought he did. He could feel his hair turn bright red, like it did when he was angered and his hand left Lily's shoulder and grasped James's collar. "Now you listen to me for one second James." he spat out his name with as much venom as he could. "Listen to your own damn words! Can't go around dating in public? Are you bloodly mad?! What is she suppose to do? Go hide in a closet with her boyfriend? Oh, I'm sure that would go over well with you." he said, his voice still dripping with venom. "Now. Here's the part I'm really pissed about. You know bloody well why I hated each of the guys Rosie dated. I. Love. Her. You know how hard it is to see the person you love with another man, and your not sure if you'll ever get a chance with her? You don't. You've never felt that James. You've had your flings, sure, but have you ever thought of having a future with someone?" Ted suddenly let go off James shoulder, his hair turning back to its Turquoise color, running his hands through it.
"Sure, you have your brotherly love with Lily, but frankly, when I saw Rosie with those other guys, it was beyond the fear of the guy hurting her, that brotherly feeling. It was the actually fact that I had feelings with her, and that when she hurt, I hurt. It's still that way. Everytime we get a face off with the Death Eaters, all I can think of is not her. Because if I lose her, I'll be nothing. I can't loose her James. I know your probably thinking 'well I feel the same way about Lily' but you don't. When I'm with Rosie, I'm complete. One half fills the other. Nothing brings out my smile more then she does, the way we fit perfectly together, the way she just knows what to say when I'm feeling down, everything about her really. If she goes, then apart of me's gone. She goes, I go." Ted said, trying to get James to understand what he was trying to say.
"I am as much of a brother to Lily as you are, and you know that. I'd be ready to beat down any guy that hurts her in a millasecond. But frankly, with you always hovering over her, picking at each guy she trys to snog, you really think that's bad? I know what your feeling like, wanting to beat the guy for laying a hand on your sister. I felt that wih Rosie too, except everytime I saw her snogging someone, I felt as though a little bit of my heart got torn." Ted heaved a huge sigh and slid his chair back into the table. "There, I'm done with my spheal. You can say whatever you feel the need to say again." Ted sighed closing his eyes and crossing his amrs over his chest.

Lily watched Teddy talking to James. She knew what that felt like. Watching the person you loved with someone else. well, the person she loved didn't love her back. She sighed, not really caring that Corliss had been close to Ander. It was all apart of the plan she saw coming. No, no one listens to little bitty Lily. Even though she saw something that no one else did. Her heart hurt for Teddy, she felt that pain constantly. It tore through her at the ball, Zane with Charlotte? You know that has to hurt. She wasn't quite sure that She had informed her 'brother' about Zane. Should I? Would he understand? I'm sure he would. James didn't take it well. She watched Teddy speaking her mind on others things. "I know how you feel, Tedders. Watching the person you've loved for so long being happy with someone else. Sucks. It bloody well sucks. I know." she said, patting his head when he sat down. Her eyes, which seconds before had been oddly happy looking, looked soft and depressed. "I don't think I've told him... Have I James?" she asked, looking at her brother. "Oh! You had better of listened to him!" she said, firing up. Her eyes stayed in their sad state even though the rest of her said 'oh-no-you-didn't.'

James felt slightly worried because of the red hair. He had witnessed Ted's anger more than once. He listened to what Teddy said and scowled feeling his temper rise, "I do not have flings! What about Heather?" He felt angry that Teddy was calling that a "fling". He pushed Teddy off and fiddled with his collar. "Try having the girl you love being attacked and tourtured in front of you and knowing it's all your fault and not being able to do anything about it!" He felt tears pricking his eyes and turned away from them not wanting to show weakness. he scowled at the thin about Ted and Rosie and nodded, his temper draining a bit, "Yeah I understand and I am sorry." he turned to Lily "I'm sorry I will try to tone down my overprotectiveness. And I don't think you have told him." he said. He was slightly weirded out about the idea of his best friend and his sister, but Zane's a good guy and he knew that he would treat her well.
Ted nearly snapped at James as he talked about Heather being tortured, but he knew he couldn't say anything. Rosie had made him promised about not telling anyone about the second forest incident. He bit his lip and sighed as James told him he was sorry. "I forgive you." Ted said dryly, he was still a bit ticked, but he had to forgive James. He looked between James and Lily during their silent exchange. "So am I going to be left in the dark about this?" Ted asked, his eyebrow raised as he leaned against the wall.

James smiled glad of the forgiveness. He thought he saw Teddy flare up again when he mentioned Heather, but kept quiet about it intending to ask about that later. He looked from Teddy to Lils and said "To be honest Ted it isn't my position to tell you so it's up to Lills."
Lily listened to James as he spoke of Heather. She hadn't cared for her, but James had. She saw the pain in her brother's eyes, which in turn made her sad. "Sorry, Jamesy." she said, looking back at her brother. "Well, Tedders, I guess it is time you know. Seeing as you are my 'brother'." she said, taking a deep breath. "You can NOT tell anyone." she added before taking yet another deep breath. "Ok. You know how you can't see Rosie with anyone but you? That is the way I feel about....." Her voice trailed off, she wasn't sure how Ted would react. He wouldn't take it as hard as James. No. But still, she didn't want him to be angry. "Zane." she said, her voice strong but her head down as if in shame. She looked up through her red hair, waiting for Teddy's reaction.
Teddy grinned as she called him brother. "I promise, my lips are sealed." Ted said and waited for her to tell him. He nodded when she talked about Rosie, and when she finally told him Zane his would went agap for a moment, then he cleared his throat. "Really? Wow.. never expected that one." he chuckled, but smile sadly at Lily. "I'm sorry Lils." he said quietly, knowing first hands how much it hurt. He took one arm and wrapped it around her shoulders, giving it a small squeeze.
Lily smiled half heartedly. "No one saw it coming did they? Thats the way I feel, what can I do?" she said, shrugging her shoulders. She sighed looking at James. "Well, thanks Tedders. I'm glad to hear you know how it feels.' she laughed softly, feeling his arms around her shoulders. "It is fine, really. I'm used to it by now." Lily turned her attention back to Teddy. "How did you do it? Watching Rosie kiss those other guys?" she asked all of the sudden, her voice to the point of breaking.
Ted laughed as Lily asked how he handled it. "I didn't, plain a simple. Ever fight me and Rosie had that was serious, and lasted over five minutes, was about some bloke I caught her kissing." he said, heading over to the other end of the table to grab his mug of hot chocolate. "Thank god there weren't too many of them. I later found out she only dated for the same reason I did, to try and get over me. Thankful I finally maned up and asked her to the Ball, which resulted in me asking her out." Ted smiled, and felt the ends of his hair turn, which they seemed to do whenever he thought of Rosie now. He was sure it looked hilarious, turquoise hair with pink tips. He looked back to Lily and frowned. "That probably doesn't make it any better, does it?"
Lily heard Teddy speaking of the fights he and Rosie had. She didn't have fights with Zane, because they were different than her cousin and 'adopted' brother. They had never dated, which made Zane's end of the bargain easier that hers. She watched him flirt with other girls and be with other girls, all the while waiting, praying she might be next. That was never the case. Little bitty baby Potter, James and Albus' brother. Thats all she ever amounted up too. No one knew about her in the upper grades. "No, Teddy, it really doesn't help. Its different than that. He can't see it." she muttered, looking away into the fire. A single tear made it's way down her pink cheek, leaving a shiny trail of sorrow behind it. It sparkled in the cracking fire. "It really isn't the same for me. I'm his best friends sister. Well, if you count you being my brother. I do." she said, trying to sound cheery, but failing terribly. She couldn't look back in at her friend.
Ted frowned as he noticed the tear drop fall from his 'sisters' face. He put down his mug and walked over to her, wiping the single tear from her face. "I know it feels like crap, and really, nothing anyone will say will make it better." He said wrapping and arm around her, a small frown on his face. He hated to see her hurting like this. If only he could tell Zane, or maybe figure out who he liked. Then maybe it would work out for Lily. He sighed gently and a idea occurred to him. "Lils, have you talked to your Mum about this? It may seem like the last person to go to, but I told Harry and Ginny about Rosie before anyone. Ginny then told me about how she fancied your Dad since her first year in Hogwarts, but he never really figured it out until his sixth year. Maybe she can give you some advice?" he told her, remembering that fateful day at the Potters, when everyone but him had gone to bed.
Lily looked up, the look on her face was complete shock. "Talk to Mum or Dad! You can't be serious, Ted Lupin! Of course they'd give you bloody advice! Your not their daughter! Only daughter and youngest child for that matter! Mum tried to give me advice with Ander. Didn't blpoody work. Stupid traitor. Dad told me that boys were no good. No good at all. Help me any? Didn't think so." she said, inhaling a deep breath. She shook her head back and forth, making the point clear the his idea would never work. "Well, Teddy. I know nothing will make it better. He is a seventh year. I am a fourth year. Not a likely couple is it?" she said, the pain she had just gotten rid of, flew back in a wave of heartbreak. "Teddy, I love Zane."
