Staying up until three o'clock on a Tuesday, doing homework of course, was not the norm for Miss Lily Potter. So saying, that is exactly what she was doing at exactly three in the morning on Tuesday. She yawned, looking around the empty Common Room and rubbing her eyes. The long Transfiguration essay she had to write was almost finished. She heard a low grumble from below her. She jumped, looking under the table. Then, after she had made a fool of herself as she searched for the source of the noise, she felt the pain in her stomach. She rubbed it as she stood up. She knew she looked odd in her baggy purple shorts and green shirt with fuzzy red socks. I mean, who matches when they go to sleep? Lily certainly didn't
So, the small girl made her way across the empty room at a slow speed, cursing her hand-eye coordination when she stubbed her toe. 'It is too late for you to up.' she thought, opening the portrait hole and exiting the room. There was a soft noise as her socks patted down the corridors. She rounded corner after corner until she arrived at the painting of the fruit. She grinned her signature grin as she tickled the corner of the pear. The picture swung open before she could say 'Lily Luna Potter'.
She came here often, and was always surprise by the swarm of house elves offering her an assortment of food. "Fancy a cup of hot chocolate? A muffin? Orange? Apple? Crumpet? Cookie?" they asked quickly, holding the offered foods above their small bodies. Smiling, Lily grabbed the blue mug that held hot chocolate and a cookie. That would help her stay up! She thanked the two elves before moving to sit beside the fire.
Yawning, Lily took a big gulp of the hot liquid. A shudder went down her spine. She giggled before taking a bit of the large cookie she held. "This isn't a good idea. I'll be sick all night." she spoke to herself. She looked around, the little bodies that filled the room were scurrying around. They kept up the offers for more food, but Lily turned them down, still sipping her drink. She laughed quietly, knowing that she had a brown line over the top of her lip and a bit of marshmallow on the tip of her nose. She smiled and pulled her legs to her chest.
