Avery completely lost his self control, when he saw Corliss' eyes fill with tears. He hugged her back tightly, as she sobbed deep in his chest. Then next thing he knew she was running away... away from Avery. He started running after her, then he saw her fall. He ran to her side, putting his arms around her. "Corliss... baby no, when I told you that I loved you, and nothing was going to change that, I meant it. NOTHING is going to stop me from loving you. Abslolutely NOTHING. Trust me on that." He pulled her chin up, that way she had to look at him. He stared into her eyes, feeling the same pain she was. His eyes glistened with tears, but he let nothing fall from them. "I love you, babe."
Ted watched as Corliss ran away from Avery and tilted his head slightly, wondering what was going on. He heard Vikki talking, but he was uninterested. She seemed to be quite moody, maybe it was the moon. But it was not the Gryffindors that drew interest to him. And soon he was making his way over to the pair of Slytherins. NOTHING is going to stop me from loving you. Absolutely NOTHING. he heard Avery said and nodded his head as he stood in front of the pair. "You know, he's right." Ted said, looking at the two of them as if they weren't his enemies and he hated their guts. "When he says he loves you I mean. I" he said pointing to himself, "can see it. Because you see I," he pointed to himself again. "am also in love. With Rosie. And I know that nothing, nothing at all, even the fact that I have to be separated from her for a whole year, I'm still going to love her. And even though you won't be friends with her, he's still going to love you. 'Cause that's how it is." He had some difficultly pointing to her when he said 'you' but he manged to get through his speech. He looked over to Rosie and flashed her his lopsided grin.
Nikita watched Avery, and Corliss curiously. If Avery hurt her, he was going to get some sense knocked into him. Nikita watched the whole scene with her eyebrow raised, and her temper rising. She couldn't believe how crazy Teddy was at the moment. It was a very odd for him to be nice to Slytherins, especially Corliss. Nikita finally had enough of all this sweet sensitive bull shit. She started walking over to where Avery, and Corliss were sitting. Oh, HELL no. Nikita thought to herself, as she saw how many tear marks had streamed down her face. You did NOT just make her mascara run. Now it's personal. Nikita joked inside her head. She crouched in front of Avery looking him straight in the eyes. Her face looked very angry, she was sure. BAM! The sound echoed across the open area. Nikita cocked her head to the side, and looked at what she had done. She smiled evilly, when she saw the red hand print on Avery's right cheek. "That's what you get for hurting my best friend. Oh, and also for messing up her make-up." Nikita stood back up, her evil smile still on her face.

Corliss heard Avery trying to comfort her. 'He should know he is doing this to me! Leave me the hell alone!' she cried. She pushed his hand off her chin as Teddy began to talk. "Wolfie, would you please stop making yourself look like a fool?" she muttered as she heard a smack. She looked up. Avery's arms were not longer wrapped around her. He was rubbing his cheek. She looked right up into the evil grin of her best friend. 'Oh shit! My makeup is messed up!' She stood up, looking down at Avery. "Don't lie to me." she hissed, though her teeth. "Father said, Boys aren't worth crying over, and the one that is won't make you cry." She looked at Nikita, her eyes growing wide. She had to clench her jaw tighter to keep from laughing. "Niki, thanks." she whispered for only her to hear. She looked down at Avery. Slowly, she walked over and bent to her knees, tears slowly trickling down her face. She barely saw the one the hit his hand. She landed down and kissed his cheek softly before jumping up and walking back to Niki's side. Her face was hard with anger and grief.
Avery's hand fell away from her chin, and then a split second after it fell to the ground, he felt pain shoot through his right cheek. "Shit!" Avery screamed... this slap hurt a whole lot more than the one that Vikki had produced. Avery's cheek went numb soon after the BAM! Avery couldn't even feel his hand rubbing it. "Damn girl! You have one hell of a hand! Did you have to hit me THAT hard?" Avery said still rubbing his cheek. Then he heard what Corliss said. Everything left him... the pain, and the noise. Everything was gone. All he heard was his thoughts. Then He felt something against his cheek. He looked up to see what it was, and sure enough it was Corliss. He tried to clear his mind, but couldn't too much was going on today. Avery didn't even get up, he just sat there, not moving. Just thinking.

Corliss looked around, her face pale and teary. She felt nothing, her thoughts were even dead. She watched Avery, her tears gone. She felt like her tear ducts were run dry. She couldn't tear her gaze from the boy sitting on the ground. She wanted to hug him and tell him she was sorry. Her feet felt as though they were glued to the ground with no chance of her ever moving again. She blinked slowly, feeling like part of her heart hand been murdered. Finally, her hand twitched back to lift. It reached for her face, wiping away the slow falling tear. She watched as her hand fell down and stopped, reaching out for Avery. She couldn't do anything. It was like her hand had a mind of its own.

Vikki stood there, confused as the couple broke ou into tears and Teddy made his exclamation that he, too, was in love. She shook her head, this gooey stuff irking her. You could probably call her jealous, but she was too far gone to care if you did. her eyes went wide, though, as Niki slapped Avery, and winced as the sound echo'd through the clearing, making the oddly unmmoving tree quiver in surprise. "Ooooookay"
Avery grabbed Corliss' hand, and he stood up, still holding it. He looked around, at all of the staring faces. Then Avery's other hand found his cheek. It still hurt, like crap, and Avery wished that he could stop the slap from hitting him. Like that would happen, though. Avery looked at Teddy, and nodded his head, thanking him for the 'help'. Then he looked back at Corliss.
Rosie beamed at Ted. "Awww. Love you too, m'dear," she said, standing on her tip-toes to give him a kiss on the cheek before leaning against his side and wrapping her arms around him before . Still smiling, she leaned her head against him, as it was well past midnight. She should've been in bed. But, the encounter between Corliss and Avery was a bit too exciting to miss. Especially when she was partially involved.

Corliss barely felt the warm hand in hers. She watched as Avery stood and looked over at Teddy. She was off in never land, dreaming her empty dreams. Her eyes glazed over, she didn't blink. She loosened her hand from Avery's grip, letting her hand fall to her side. She stood there, looking as though she would faint, little did they know, Avery had blown up half of her nerves. Feeling dead isn't the best thing to happen to a small girl. Corliss felt as though she could never move again. She put all her effort into looking at Nikita. She tried, and failed, at gibing her a faint smile. She blinked her heave lids once, leaving the blue green eyes soft and fragile. She had never felt this way, save the day she found out Miles and Kianthra were going to the ball together. Her small hand rested on her cheek, feeling the dried tears. She chin hit her chest. It felt to heave for her to bear anymore. "Niki, this isn't working." she muttered, loud enough for only her to hear. She turned away from the rest of the people, leaving enough room so she could see Niki perfectly without turning her head. She didn't want anyone to see her if she broke again. "What do I do?" she asked softly, no one would hear her but her best friend.
Ted beamed as Rosie appeared at his side, giving him a kiss on the cheek. he wrapped his arm around her as she slid into his side, knowing how tired she had gotten, it must of been around midnight. Caretaker is getting slacker, of course. Not that Ted minded, it meant more night-time excursions for them. He kissed the top of Rosie's head. "I love you." he whispered, a big goofy smile on his face. "So are you and Avery friends again or what?" he whispered gently, noticing how most of her weight had shifted to him. He didn't mind however, he'd probably end up carrying her to the common room by the end of the night. But that did remind him of the last time he did that, Victoire nearly killed him when she woke up and found Ted sneaking out of their dormitory.
Nikita listened carefully to Corliss. She felt horrible for her, but Nikita knew what Corliss must do. That is if Corliss would do it. She looked at Corliss, her eyes filled with sorrow for the girl standing in front of her. She took in a big breath, and decided how she should tell her. "Well, Corliss, you have to trust me on this... can you do that?" Nikita didn't wait for Corliss to respond, she just continued, "You have to try. Just try for Avery, if you love him enough. I know, it's going to be hard for you, and I will be there with you, to help you. That is of course if you want my help, or need my help..." Nikita trailed off, and hoped that Corliss would try. "Just try not to hurt Rosie. Just try, and if it doesn't work..." Nikita trailed off, not knowing what would happen if it didn't work. She looked Corliss in the eyes, and continued, "Trust me." She said these two words with hope. She had a feeling that Corliss would listen to her.
Rosie leaned her head into Teddy, her eyelids fluttering for a moment before she woke herself up again. "I dunno," she answered, shaking her head to wake herself up, "But I have a bad feeling about this whole thing." Finally, when it seemed that Corliss was going to break under the pressure, Rosie stepped out of Ted's embrace and walked up to the blonde Slytherin girl. Perhaps her forgivness had helped a ton, because she felt no contempt for the girl standing in front of her. "Corliss?" she asked, her voice rather soft. She didn't wait for an answer before continuing. "Y'know, perhaps this isn't the best idea. We are on opposite sides in this war, and it's sorta our duty to make sure the other side doesn't win. So, there's really nothing we can do not to hurt each other, unless we both opted out of the war. In fact, if we both promised not to curse the shit out of each other, it wouldn't end well. You're gonna hurt my friends, and I'm gonna hurt yours. So having some sort of unspoken treaty with each other is a bad idea. I can be friends with Avery, even if you do hurt me. Because it's not whether you hurt me or not, it's whether or not I choose to be friends with him. And, at the moment, I'm not sure."

Corliss heard Nikita speaking, she wasn't paying much attention though. All she heard was her last 'Trust me.' She nodded her head, slowly, not wanting to agree to something that everyone knew wouldn't work. Corliss was fighting not to break again. She heard Rosie and Wolfie talking about their 'love'. It made her want to gag. She knew how this should work out, but she couldn't let it be normal. She sighed as she heard Rosie speak her name. She turned to look at the Gryffindor. The words she spoke came with truth. Corliss felt like hugging the traitor for some odd reason. She held back the urge though. She stepped closer, so they were within reach for Corliss to touch her. She reached out, unsure what would happen. She gave Rosie a pat on the shoulder. "You have a point." she said, looking at Avery. "Neither one of was can promise not to hurt one another. We can try not to hurt each other as often, but that is still a risk. If you were to curse Nikita right now, of course I would send one at you. Then the fight would break loos. See, Avery, Rosie knows it wouldn't work, she can still be your friend." she whispered, moving away from them both.
