Rosie turned the corner into the Great Hall, her friend, Teddy just beside her. They're game of wizard's chess in the Gryffindor Common Room had gone unfinished, to the stress and unhappiness of the pieces. However, what can you do when you're too hungry to continue?
The buddy system had been working quite well so far. The corridors were clear of many people, but Teddy and Rosie had spotted Kianthra Lestrange on their way down to the Great Hall. Had one of them been alone, she probably would have shot an insult at them, or worse, attacked. However, together in a pack as they were, she simply gave them a dirty look and continued on her way.
Rosie slid into a spot along the Gryffindor Table.
So the buddy system did seem to have worked. He was sure that Kianthra would have pulled an insult out on them, but since they were overpowering her she jus scowled and continued on her way, who would of thought something so simple would scare away the DE? They would have to tell Zane what happened, he'd get a kick out of this one.
As he entered the Great Hall, it was quiet full, some people leaving and some, like him and Rose, just coming to get something to eat. But there was still a fair amount of people coming to eat. There would be no need to head over to the kitchen tonight for a midnight snack. He thought he would have very few of these midnight strolls from now on, as long as he could at least. They would probably hang out in the common rooms most nights now, instead out where the DE could get at them. As much as he hated to say it, they were getting stronger.
Teddy took a seat next to Rosie and looked around the table, seeing a few of the other seventh years. A few of the guys a smirks on their faces, he wondered what that could be about. But he was too distracted, soon food began to appear in front of him, and his stomach growled again. Right, food. He began to serve himself before his stomach could embarrass him any further. "Where Zane tonight anyways? Practicing?" Teddy asked, buttering a roll.
"As usual," Rosie answered, piling some mashed potatoes on her plate and taking a thoughtful bite. "I dunno how he manages to do all his schoolwork as well as practice just about all the time. It's a wonder he's not dropping dead from exhaustion." And it was. Rosie was quite interested in how he did it. It was now the prime place to find him these days. Which might not be a good idea. The DE could ambush him in the air and blame it on a flying accident. Rosie wouldn't put it past them.
Still munching thoughfully on her mashed potatoes, she thought back to the meeting they'd had with Kianthra. It was quite strange that the girl would shy away from them like that. The Kianthra Rosie knew would have hurled something at them, whether it be a nasty word, a book, or an unforgivable curse. However, the girl had simply walked away, with not a word to say. Perhaps she had slunk off to get another one of her cronies, so they could have a real fight, with equal numbers. In fact, Rosie caught a glimspe of the blonde girl entering the Great Hall with Charlotte and Scorpius flanking her. The buddy system really wouldn't have worked if Teddy and Rosie had met all three of them in the corridors.
"I know what you mean. If it were me, I would be dead by the end of the day, not out at two am in the morning flying around on the bloody broom of him." Teddy said, taking a mouthful of his wild rice, watching as Kianthra and the others walk over to their table. "Close call, but we'll have to be carefully heading back up to the common room, they are more likely to strike when the numbers aren't even." Teddy noted, taking another mouthful of rice.
"I hope Zane comes now and eats, I'd hate to get up at two again this morning just so we can go grab something from the kitchen." Teddy said, looking around at the table for some more food. He was going to load up at supper time now, so there would be no more need for midnight strolls.
"And besides, he doesn't even need to practice," she put in, loading her plate with a delicious-smelling dish comprised of peas, carrots, and cauliflower. She took a bite of it before continuing, "He's the greatest Gryffindor Seeker since Harry Potter. That in itself, is saying something. He should spend his time doing something more constructive. Like schoolwork. Or eating supper with his friends." That would definitely be a good use of time. The three of them could talk about the New Order and training, and all the stuff they wasted time regularly, talking about. Mult-tasking was so helpful, if only people would do it.
"They tend to wallow in the unfair, eh?" she said, narrowing her eyes as she watched the three Slytherins sit down at their table. "If Zane were here he'd be safer besides. The three of them catch him coming back from Quidditch and he's doomed." She took another couple bites of her vegetables before loading her plate up with a thick slice of shepherd's pie. She then offered it to her friend. "Pie for your thoughts?" she laughed, gesturing to the platter of pie.

"I know what you mean. You can only get so good." Teddy chuckled, watching as she got herself some shepherds pie. "And if he comes in, and his sister and friends find him, he'll be in trouble. It'll be nice when I get apparating license. I will definitely abuse that privilege." Teddy said, still watching the shepherd's pie with hungry eyes.
When she offered it to him, he smiled and gladly took some for himself. "Why thank you ma'am." Teddy chuckled, sliding a slice onto his plate. "Imagine, just seeing them in the halls and then apparating to the common room, or if you're late for a class, just apparate there. Oh the possibilities..." Teddy was getting lost in his thoughts, a mischievous smile on his face.
"Lucky duck. You'll probably get it on your first try. Zane too. And then I'll be the only one without my license. I can't get mine for another year. I've yet to turn seventeen, and even then, it's not as though I'll actually get it on the first try," she looked dolefully at her pie, taking a moody bite. However, the next moment the grin returned to her face as she remembered something.
"Ah, you're forgetting one thing, my dear Teddy," she said, a glint in her bottle-green eyes. She popped a pea in her mouth and chewed for a moment before swallowing and continuing, "You can't apparate inside school grounds." It was the thing her mother had reminded her father and uncle of so many times that they couldn't even count anymore. Rosie herself had remembered the first time, although Hugo was a bit slower in the whole memorization thing, so he needed a few more reminders.
"Aww, don't have your doubt's Rosie. I'm sure you'll get it." Teddy said, patting his friend on the back before digging into his Shepperd's pie. He had to say, one thing he couldn't complain about Hogwarts was the food, it was always the best thing he had ever tasted. Well, not really, but it was still pretty damn good, if he did say so himself.
He dropped his fork as she reminded him that he couldn't apparate on school ground. He frown formed on his face and he laid his elbow on the table, his chin cupped by his hand as he started to take his anger out on the food. "I completely forgot for a moment, and I had so many good idea's too." he huffed, taking a fork full of the pie and shoving it into his mouth.
Rosie rolled her eyes at him, a smile spreading across her face. "So, did you schedule a time yet, for your test?" she asked. Apparation Tests were just as big in the Wizarding World as Driving Tests were in the Muggle World. In fact, children around the age of seventeen at Hogwarts, tended to talk about their Apparation Tests, and spread around the school the time of their test and how well they thought they were going to do. However, Teddy, Zane, and Rosie didn't exactly have time for something as silly as that. Most every spare moment they had was spent planning for the New Order and training.
"Sorry for raining on your parade," she answered, winking at him and taking a couple bites of shepherd's pie. "But someone had to break the news to you." She thought about how many things she would do if she could Apparate in Hogwarts. She would definitely Apparate to all her classes as well as to get away from people in the DE. OF course, she'd probably be out of school before she even got her license. Such was the unluckiness of late birthdays.

Zane almost jumped down the stairs into the common room. Wearing his gryffindor jumper, quidditch trousers, shin pads and his treasured firebolt in his hand, he was heading out for some practice. He felt the need to fly for at least a few hours as a result of Kinathra's spell. After all he was claustrophobic, something Kianthra knew and often exploited at Zane's expense. The common room was deserted apart from a few second years playing gobstones, looks like everyone else had better things to do. He ran a hand through his hair whilst searching for the practice snitch. Having finally given in to Zane's relentless pestering to borrow the crate of Quidditch balls, the coach had finally given in, lending him one of the spare snitches from a previous match. He heard the sound of fluttering wings and divided behind the sofa. A few seconds later he emerged with the snitch clutched tightly in his hand.
Zane headed out past the fat lady and down the stairs. He was looking forward to the flying time so much, that he didn't notice some mebers of the DE climbing the stairs towards them. Luckily, he was at the bottom of the flight of stairs before they recognised him. Maybe a bite to eat before the training session? The smell of shepherds pie came round the edge of the doors to the Great Hall. Without a moments hesitation, he skidded round the doors and jogged up to the Gryffindor table where he caught sight of Rosie and Teddy. He sat down opposite and helped himself to some shepherds pie.
"Yeah, I'm thinking next Hogsmead trip I'm going to try for it. They have a station there, so I think it'll work out for the best." Teddy said, still a bit worked up by all his ideas being drove down to the floor. Why could they apparate in school? It was probably the most stupid rule ever. He let out a sigh and began to finish off his slice of the pie. After all, it wasn't like it was his fault that no one told him, and he was sure it would be better then trying when the DE had him cornered, if that ever happened of course.
"It's okay Rosie, I would of found out sometime." Teddy told her, finishing off his pie and grabbing another roll. They were his favorite, especially since there were still so warm that the butter melted on the roll as soon as it was put there. He looked up as someone sat across from them, noting it was Zane. "Well, well. Look who decided to join us." Teddy chuckled, smiling at his best friend, who was wearing a lot of Quidditch gear. "How was practice?" Teddy asked, assuming that he just came from the pitch.

"Well I smelt the shepherds pie and then I saw you two. Practice? I'm just heading there now, hoping for at least three hours practice, maybe four if it doesn't start thundering like it did last time." He smiled as he said this ready for the maternal instinct in Rosie to kick in. "A few nights ago, another two in the morning practice, I wasn't the only one there. Charlotte was there and some of her friends were watching. She's quite a skilled Quidditch player, shame that she has no feelings and only cares for herself."
He poured a glass of pumpkin juice whilst checking his watch. Five minutes till I have to leave." Tucking in to the shepherds pie, he glanced around the hall and his eyes fell upon his sister. Oh great just what I need. She didn't seem to notice him however as she continued talking to Charlotte and Scorpius. Another sip of pumpkin juice as he looked up and down the table for something to eat for pudding.
"They've got a station in Hogsmeade?" she asked, surprised, "Hmph. Never knew that." She supposed that she should know a lot about the Wizarding World, but with this new bit of information, it was clear that she didn't know as much as she had previously thought. And perhaps that was a good thing. "Yeah, it's probably a good thing your hopes and dreams weren't dashed by a heartless Slytherin. Now they would have given you a hard time about it."
Rosie greeted Zane with a nod of the head as he sat down, her mouth still full from the bite of shepherd's pie she'd just eaten. She listened to his comments and was surprised, again to hear about Charlotte on the Quidditch Pitch. Then she raised her eyebrows. "Do you know how dangerous that is? To have Charlotte and her friends watching you? They could jinx you to the ground and then blame it on a Quidditch accident. Sometimes it's not like you even think, Zane..." She shook her head, taking a moody bite of mashed potatoes. She felt like the only one who cared about the others' safety.

""They didn't even know it was me, but yes I see your point," he helped himself to some apple pie he had spotted being summoned up the table. Maybe it was best not to mention the fact that they did know it was him and that the reason why he hadn't returned to Gryffindor Tower was that he was in the hospital wing with a broken arm. Lucky really, it had been quite a drop from where he was soaring. Even luckier though was the fact that Professor Gale had been heading down to give him detention for being out so late; she had accompanied him up to the hospital wing where he faced a night of skelegro.. He looked up at Rosie his face the picture of a guilty conscience. "Well I was positive that neither of you would have wanted to have been woken up at two in the morning..." he said quietly before digging into the apple pie. Truth be told, he hated lying to his friends but otherwise Rosie would not let him out of her sights again.
He looked across the hall and met the eyes of his sister. She stared at him for a few seconds then whispered something to Charlotte. The trio then stood up and left the hall whispering to each other with the occasional glance back into the hall. "What are you planning Kianthra?" he mumbled, so quiet that the others couldn't distinguish what he had said.
Teddy took some of the apple pie that Zane was helping himself too and poked at it with his fork, deciding if he was really going to eat it. Of course he was, he was Teddy after all. "That would be embarrassing." Teddy said in Rosie's remark. He could just picture himself in the middle of the great hall, realizing he had a class and trying to apparate to his next class, the laughter filling the room. Oh god he could only imagine his tomato look with his bright purple hair.
"Zane, we really need to be looking out for each other more. This battle is getting more intense and as much as I hate to say it..." Zane looked around, not wanting his opponents to hear his next statement. "With the crew that is fighting with us now, I don't think we'd have much of a chance if we started a bloody war." Teddy said, taking another forkful of the pie and slipping it into his mouth.
