Rosie nodded, gulping loudly and then looking back at her hands, thinking. She thought about what she would do should Teddy die in this whole war that was going on. Of course, she immediately pushed this thought out of her head, as it made tears come to her eyes. She pushed the lump in her throat back down and then looked back up at Teddy.
"Promise me you'll be careful," she said, not caring that she sounded a little demanding. "And try to keep your temper under control. If you do that, they're less likely to hurt you. I know Zane can hold his own against practically anyone, but I'm still worried about you. You let your temper take you over sometimes."
As she waited for an answer, she wondered vaguely what she'd do if she was caught unawares. Of course, she knew she'd probably be with someone, whether it was Zane or Ted, or both. But, there were times when she wasn't with them, and those were the times that she could really get hurt if Charlotte, or Kianthra, or Scorpius, or any of the other members of the DE found her. She silently vowed to herself to always be with someone whenever she went anywhere. She smiled slightly to herself. The buddy system never failed.
He noted the tears that were in her eyes, and he smiled gently at her, trying to make it all better. It hurt him that he knew he wouldn't be able to win right now, but he hoped someday he would be able to. "I've been getting better Rosie, I truly have. But it's my father's genetics, the werewolf in me if you will. Since their angry creatures anyways, it doesn't help when I'm trying to keep myself calm. But I'm getting better, a lot better actually at controlling my temper." he told her honest, smiling. She was the real reason behind it. She was always telling him to control his temper, and finally, after seventeen years, he was finally learning how to.
"I promise Rosie, that I will be carefully. But you have to promise me something too, that you won't be alone ever, if I or Zane aren't with you and they strike.... I could never forgive myself." Teddy said, his smile solemn now. And it was the truth, if she ever got hurt and he wasn't around to protect her, it would do some serious damage to himself. She was his oldest friend, to see her hurt ever made him hurt, even if it was a simple Quidditch injury.
Although she didn't comment on it, she really did hope he was telling her the truth. His temper was one of his greatest weaknesses. Something the DE could milk for all it was worth, and get him to do things he never would if he weren't angry. However, it was also slightly helpful to him. Anger gets adreniline going, which might help him in a fight. But, Rosie knew it was probably best if he could control it at will, rather than to be at its mercy.
"Deal," she answered, smiling at him, "Buddy system never fails, after all." Of course, it might be difficult for her to constantly be with either Zane or Teddy, but that didn't matter. She'd do anything to make sure Ted was careful. In this war, recklessness like he and Zane had was something that was really not helpful. In fact, it endangered both of them. For this, she was happy that she hadn't inherited that same wild nature from her father. Rather, she'd gotten her mother's maternal, constantly careful attidtude towards life. Which would definitely help her in the up-coming war. You could never be too careful.
Teddy smiled as she spoke, and nodded his head. "Hasn't fail yet. Now, I'm sure that if we keep our promises, that both us are going to be perfectly fine. As will Zane and anyone else in the Order." he smiled at her, squeezing her hands gently in his, in a reassuring way. He knew his hardheaded nature along with Zane's was enough for Rosie to handle, but lucky for her, the both of them were quiet handy with their wands. One thing was sure of, if anyone was going to die in this war, it would be the Death Eaters.
Rosie smiled, before looking down at her stomach as it made a very strange noise. "Ooh, grumbling stomachs are never fun," she said, her smile growing as she slipped back to her regular self, "Fancy getting a bite to eat in the Great Hall?" She was, after all, starving. The sky outside had faded to a dusky purple, drastically different from its former orange color. Smells of dinner were entering the Common Room, which was practically empty now, as everyone was down in the Great Hall. Rosie glaced over at their chess game, which lay forgotten on the table. All the pieces had turned to watch and listen to their conversation. "Little eavesdroppers," Rosie scolded them.
As her stomach growled, it brought Ted back to reality, and he moved back to his side of the couch, looking at the chess pieces who had been eavesdropping on them. He smiled as his own stomach growled. "Seems I'm hungry as well. Might as well get something to eat." Teddy concluded, taking one hand and swiping all the pieces of the chess game back into the box they came from. There were a few shouts and such but they were muffled as the chess board folded over them. He placed the box under the table and looked to Rosie, standing up. "Ready to go?" he asked, looking at her. "I need a buddy."
