A tremor shook through Lily. She hadn't thought that far. Albus, not really talking to her or the rest of the family, might not care to take the time and listen. Knowing James, he wouls change the whole story to put it aganist her. What would happen if she had no one to talk to and all she could do was cry to herself over a boy? Now, now, now. Don't go thinking like that. She took a deep, shaky breath, holding her feelings in so as not to let them escape again. She said nothing as he walked off, just scowling at him until he sat with a dumbfounded Teddy.

Zane only looked up when he heard James' footsteps heading away from them. He sighed in relief, immediately feeling a lot more calm. He's got a point. I leave at the end of this year and Lily hasn't even taken her O.W.L.S yet. I don't want to break her heart, I couldn't do that to her, nor anybody else. I just can't. Oh why does everything have to be so complicated? Is it just me? No one else seems to have as much trouble as I do. Why can't everything just be straight forward? Well I guess that's what you get after setting up and orchestrating a rebellion... He looked at Lily, smiling slightly, but still saying nothing.
He stared at the floor for a minute or two until he caught sight of the sad look on Lily's face. "Hey Lils, don't be sad," he said quietly, he put his arm around her, smiling as he did so.
The silence dragged on and on after James left. Lily wondered if Zane was thinking about what her older broter had said. He must be. Who couldn't! He is leaving but I won't die when he leaves. I can hold meself together and help with the NO here at HOgwarts. Think, two years is all that stands between you and him. The thought made her feel strong. If, just if, Zane felt the same way she did, maybe after she got out of school the fire would still be there. Who knows. She smiled as she looked down, not wanting Zane to see her smiling if indeed he was thinking sad thoguhts. She was about to say something concerning the whole 'You're leaving this year and I have to stay for two more years' issue when she felt Zane's arm wrap around her. Looking up, Lily caught Zane's gaze. She smiled as she thought of how to tell him she was fine. "It doesn't bother me, y'know..." she whispered, leaning into the older Gryffindor as she spoke. She kept her voice low to keep all others from hearing her. "I always knew you would have to leave before me. I've thought about it. I'll be fine..." she said, as if to promise him she wouldn't cry when he left if something did happen between them. She laughed softly as she looked back up. "This is really confusing."

"I know you'll be fine but still...yeah this is really confusing..." Zane mumbled, his attention still focused on Lily. Of course she'll be fine. I'm just underestimating her. She's not going to jump from the Grand Staircase out of depression or... ok best not think about that. Well it's not as if we won't see each other, so yeah it will be limited to school holidays, but that's fine with me. Hey maybe I could get her some tickets to one of my matches...that could work... He twirled a strand of her hair around his finger as he thought of the future and life in general. A very thought-provoking topic. Soon distracted away from the meaning of life by a large crackle from the fire, Zane made another attempt at restarting where they had left off, "so..." he said pausing to make sure that he had found the correct words, "fancy coming to one or two of my matches next year? I could probably get you a ticket..." At this Zane smiled once more, the famous Zane smile that everyone knew him for. Next year's going to be great. Just Quidditch all of the time. What more could I ask for? Well...
"Still what..? I don't see anything wrong with this..." she said, gesturing to herself and then Zane with his arm around her. She smiled up at him wondering what in the hell he was thinking. Well, I will be fine. Nothing would come between us... So I hope. God! This is where being a Legilimens would come in handy! He comes to our house for some holidays! Brilliant! She noted that she had been gazing into his eyes for a long while now and quickly diverted her eyes. A Lily-smile popped over her lips as Zane spoke. "Well, of course! That would be great. I dunno why I wouldn't say yes." she said, leaning a bit closer to him. "I'm telling you, this feels right to me." she whispered, seeing her friend, who had ditched her earlier, waving frantically. She smiled but quickly looked back up at Zane.

"Nope there's nothing wrong with this..." He said with a smile, still curling a lock of her hair around his finger. Well I do go to her house sometimes in the holidays, at least I'd see her then, and at matches, but that wouldn't be for long, apart from if I saw her afterwards... He smiled again as Lily diverted her eyes, "That's great Lils, you can choose of course, but I'm guessing World Cup would be your preference? He paused, "Yeah I know what you mean," he shifted slightly on the sofa but still keeping an arm around Lily.
A smile crept up on Lily's face as she listened to Zane. She laughed softly as he agreed that nothing was wrong with the whole situtation going on. Still, you know how to handle him going away. Nothing different than leaving home... Oh hell! Everyone is going to be gone next year. Zane, James, Rosie, Vikki, Ted, and Albus will be here but he never talks to me... I'll be all alone.. Her eyes widened at the thought of being all alone in the years to come. It was scary to think about all her friends leaving. On the good side, most of the high ranking DE would also be leaving. Good always comes with the bad, you just have to know how to find it. Laughing the thoguht off, Lily looked back at Zane. She smiled as he kept messing with a strand of her firey red hair. "Are you saying your team is going to make it into the World Cup? Of course thats the one I'll come too." she said, laughing at the thought of the team not making it to the World Cup.

"Well I hope so, but being a new team, then we might not. There's loads of better more experienced teams out there. But I'll get you tickets just the same," Zane ran his other hand through his blond hair as he thought about the year ahead. "Well I've still got to get through this year, N.E.W.Ts and all that... and you'll have your O.W.Ls soon. It's still quite far away." He looked into her eyes as he untwirled her hair from around his finger. "Anyway there's lots of exciting things to look forward to this year, you're a Champion, you're going to have a great year!"
"You guys still have a chance though. A brand new team or just a whole lot of new players?" she said, her eyes dancing in excitment. If there was one thing she loved more than the boy with his arm around her, it wa Quidditch, Maybe it was her mother playing for the Holyhead Harpies or the face all her family played. Lily wasn't sure. Though she had already decided she was going to tryout for the Harpies when she was a seventh year. "Yes, your right. O.W.L.S. are going to be tough.. But you never know maybe I'll ace them all." she said whith a grin. "Yea, I am a Champion. I kinda forgot about that.. Woah. Hey, I got an idea." she whispered as she thought about the ball.

"Hmm I hope so," Zane smiled again as his listened to Lily ponder about O.W.L.S and the upcoming Triwizard Tournament. "Oh not another idea from Miss Potter, what's involved this time?" Zane laughed again, whenever Lily had a plan it usually ended up with her, Zane and James all in detention at the end. Zane had been thinking about the Ball for a while now, due to a certain meeting a few days ago, of course, no one knew about that, and no one needed to.
As she listened to Zane, Lily began to wonder about the Triwizard Ball. What if she was too late. What if he was going with Crenge again? This would be a lovely conversation if he was going with her again. Surely he wouldn't make that mistake twice. So, taking a deep breath, Lily readied herself to ask him her big question. "Well, its more of a question than an idea. Are you going to he ball with anyone?" she asked, keeping her voice totally calm. She raised an eyebrow as she waited for him to answer. Though she kept her face calm, her heart seemed to flutter like a humming birds wings.

There was the question, one he really wasn't sure how to answer. Considering the letter he had received a few days earlier, everyone would have thought Zane was going with Miss Abercrombie, but he still hadn't decided. Intending to meet up with her the following day, Zane paused trying to think of what to say, without giving anything away. Well on one hand, I can go with Zoey. She's asked me, I like her but I don't know. Or I could maybe ask Lily, I like her more than Zoey, it's just, erm what's the word more natural. Or I could go with Charlotte again, no that's out of the window, considering all the trouble it caused last time. If the worst comes to the worst, I could always go with one of the stalkers, no, I think I'd rather go alone. Zane broke off his thoughts as he looked into Lily's eyes and realised she was waiting for an answer. "Um"
Um. The worst word to hear when you feel the urge to ask someone to a dance or any thing of the sort. Um. The word thats revels things no one wants anyone else to know. The anger, which had seemed to bubble away as James walked off, flew back again. Lily took a deep breath. Maybe, possibly, he just didn't want to go with her. Hell no. That wouldn't work. He must have a date. Its not like its Zoey or anything..... Lily smiled. The action taking away the anger as Zane looked in her eyes. Again, she fell for him, harder. Those damn eyes of his just swept her off her feet, not that she minded or anything. "Oh, you have a date? Guess I was too late..." she muttered, tearing her gaze away from his intoxicating eyes. "Ha. Well, at least it isn't Charlotte or Nikita or Abercrombie! That would be bad..." she said, looking back at him. The look in his eyes was readable. "No..." she whispered, the word feeling somewhat familiar.

Zane couldn't stop looking into Lily's eyes. He saw them change from joy, to anger, to disappoint through to pure horror. He stayed silent, not having anything to say, not that he would of said anything if he had had something to say. He paused before managing to say, "No, well not really," and then Lily mentioned Zoey. He just looked into Lily's eyes, wishing that the letter from Zoey had never arrived. "Lily," he said quietly. "I," he paused not really sure how to phrase it. "I'm not going with...well she's sort of asked me a few days ago and I'm um meeting up with her tomorrow in Hogsmeade..." He said quietly.
Lily knew she shouldn't have reacted the way she had, but who wouldn't? Zoey? Really? The girl was a total bitch, well at least to Lily. She really hated Zoey. James had likes her and, much to her brother's distaste, the kiss that she had shared with Zane. It brought a foul taste to her mouth. "Zane." she said, a smile dusting away the sad look on her face. "Its fine. Go with whoever you please. I just want to see you happy." she finished, the look of sorrow slowly going away. "I mean, if all else fails, I guess I could go with Leftwhich or, possibly if he will talk to me, Albus. It would be nice to see him again." she muttered, her thoughts wandering off to her brother and Matthew Leftwhich. Mat, as she called him, was a fifth year Ravie. They talked and her had asked her to the summer ball. There wasn't any thing there though.
